The Real Reason Billie Lourd And Taylor Lautner Split
If you're a fan of Billie Lourd, then you likely know that she's appeared on shows like Scream Queens with Emma Roberts and American Horror Story, which also stars, well, Emma Roberts. And if you've kept up to date on Taylor Lautner's career, then you likely watched him in the Twilight saga franchise from 2008 to 2012, as well as in 2010's Valentine's Day with Taylor Swift. However, once upon a time in fairly recent Hollywood history, Lourd and Lautner were an item.
"Lourd and Lautner began their relationship shortly before the ... actress lost her mother, Carrie Fisher, and grandmother, Debbie Reynolds, in December [2016], with Lautner even joining Lourd at the hospital when Fisher was being treated in the days before her death," per People. According to TMZ, Lautner offered Lourd "comfort" during the difficult time. He also posted a photo of himself and Lourd on Instagram during with the now-deleted caption that described Lourd as one of the "strongest, most fearless individuals" he had ever met and that she's a beautiful person "inside and out" (via Bustle).
While the pair stopped short of confirming that they were either dating or in a relationship, Bustle pointed out that the stars also "took a well-deserved vacation to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, and Lautner posted an Instagram of the two of them basking in the sun by the pool looking very at ease indeed." Despite the fact that Lourd and Lautner seemingly enjoyed their time together, they went their separate ways just a few months later for an understandable reason.
Billie Lourd chose her career over Taylor Lautner
Taylor Lautner's career might not be as hot as it once was, but Billie Lourd is still doing quite well for herself. Along with her television gigs, the actress has popped up in movies like 2015's Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens, 2017's Star Wars: Episode VIII — The Last Jedi, and 2019's Star Wars: Episode IX — The Rise of Skywalker, as well as Booksmart, which was also released in 2019. But would any of this success have been possible if she had stayed with Lautner? Not sure. Frankly, it seems like the actress was not willing to take that chance, either.
In July 2017, a source told People, "They aren't together anymore but they are still friendly." The fact that they split up on fairly amicable terms — granted, "Lourd, for her part, appears to have deleted most images of Lautner from her Instagram," according to Bustle — might be because there weren't any obvious major issues at the root of their breakup. Bustle apparently reached out to the pair's representatives to get an answer as to why the stars were no longer a couple, "Lautner's rep had no comment," while the outlet "did not receive an immediate response" from Lourd's rep. However, the same source that broke the news of the split also explained to People that, when it came to Lourd, "She's really focused on her work right now." Fair enough!
