What You Didn't Know About The Bachelorette's Ivan Hall

While both The Bachelor and The Bachelorette franchises tease that every season is "the most dramatic yet," the latest installment featuring  Bachelor Nation alum Clare Crawley has already proven it's bound to live up to all the hype! While the show was filmed during the pandemic, the piping hot drama began to boil over when early spoilers from Life & Style came to the surface. In August 2020, the magazine alleged that Clare departed the show after only 12 days of filming to pursue a relationship with frontrunner Dale Moss and was replaced with fellow alum Tayshia Adams.

Dale might have stolen the limelight with his first impression rose, but many of Clare's other suitors are worth a second look. This includes contestant Ivan Hall, who reportedly hits it off with Tayshia, per Reality Steve, and makes it all the way to her final four. During an online presentation of Clare's cast, The Bachelorette host Chris Harrison joked that Hall was a "real dumb guy" before clarifying that he's actually an aeronautical engineer from Dallas, Texas. Naturally, we wanted to learn everything there is to know about the 28-year-old contestant who may or may not end the show down on one knee.

Ivan Hall has a really cool job

Per Ivan Hall's official ABC Bachelor biography, he builds jets for the U.S. military. According to his LinkedIn page, Ivan's a senior software engineer at Lockheed Martin who received his B.S. from Texas Tech, so we're pretty sure it's safe to say he's a smart guy! Intelligence is also a no-brainer when it comes to what Ivan is looking for in a partner. His bio tells us that "intelligence is a huge aphrodisiac to Ivan, and nothing turns him on more than getting into a spirited debate with the woman he loves." Is Clare Crawley hearing this? We hope she and Tayshia Adams are gearing up for some lively conversations!

Ivan's Instagram bio also says he's an "investor," which makes sense given his ABC bio tells us that he'd like to own his own exotic rental company one day. (That would explain why his Instagram features highlights of vintage cars.) Maybe Tayshia and Ivan can break the ice by discussing some of his favorite models?

Ivan Hall is a sweetheart

In an online presentation of the suitors, Chris Harrison called Ivan Hall "quiet, soft-spoken and extremely likeable" — so much so, in fact, that his nickname on the show is "Sweet Ivan." "Do the nice guys ever finish first? We'll see if they do," the host continued.

Adding to his appeal, Ivan is close to his family. The middle child of three boys, his Instagram is peppered with shots of his father, mother, and brothers, from sweet throwbacks to more recent family gatherings, including a birthday celebration for Ivan's grandmother.

Ivan's official ABC Bachelor biography emphasizes his family-first mentality by reporting that he talks to his mom every day. She hails from the Philippines, a fact which Ivan used to his advantage when he charmed Clare Crawley by telling her she's beautiful in Tagalog during the season premiere (per Entertainment Weekly). Ivan appears to rep his Filipino heritage proudly. Unsurprisingly, his favorite food is his mom's Filipino cooking!

What happens to Ivan Hall at the end of The Bachelorette?

We still don't know who won Clare Crawley's (or Tayshia Adams') heart for sure, but we do know that Ivan Hall is one of the final four bachelors, per Reality Steve. Although he couldn't confirm, Reality Steve speculates that Ivan might have made it to Adams' final three. "I do know that I have a picture of Ivan on set dressed up very late into filming, so he's gotta be in the final 3 at least," the blogger added.

As in past seasons, the final four contestants participate in hometown dates and fantasy suites, though the coronavirus pandemic mandated that the show stay in one place for the duration of the season. Host Chris Harrison told Variety that the crew improvised when it came to hometowns and fantasy suites. "We were shooting at one resort in Palm Springs, which is a little confining and restrictive — comparatively speaking, we're in 10 different countries usually," Harrison explained. "We reimagined the show and had to be really creative."

This is such a strange season thanks to its closed set, fewer contestants, and lead that departs the show halfway through, so Adams' ending really is anyone's guess. Reality Steve has blogged that the finale is "messy," but here's hoping Adams gets her happily ever after. Either way, keep your eyes on Ivan, who's definitely one to watch.
