Everything We Know About Ariana Grande's New Album
Ariana Grande fans are in for a treat! The pop princess took to Twitter to announce she's dropping her sixth studio album in October 2020, a reveal that has sparked excitement among her massive fanbase. The tweet on Oct. 14, 2020, read, "I can't wait to give u my album this month." Tell us more, queen!
For those who haven't been keeping track, the "Stuck with U" artist hasn't released an album since 2019's thank u, next. Arianators will remember the artist dropped the fifth studio album less than a year after the release of Sweetener in 2018. At the time, Grande had a rough year dealing with the sudden death of ex-boyfriend, rapper Mac Miller, and the breakup from her ex-fiancé, SNL star Pete Davidson.
Just over a year and a half after thank u, next produced two No. 1 hits ("thank u, next" and "7 rings"), Grande is prepping the release of a new album, which fans are speculating is called Positions. Here's everything we know about the work.
Ariana Grande's album clue sparks excitement
Just days after Ariana Grande released the ultimate surprise to her fans, the singer took to Twitter on Oct. 17, 2020, to share an inside scoop of what is to come for her next album. In a super slowed down video, Grande's hand seemingly types out the word "Positions" on a neon green keyboard. The not-so-hidden clue turned the Twitter-verse into a guessing game of whether "Positions" is the name of a single or the forthcoming album. Pop Crave reported Grande liked a tweet confirming the artist will drop a single before the album's premiere, but she wouldn't say if "Positions" is the single, the album, or both.
As for other possible song names? Us Weekly reported a tune titled "My Hair" — a song "Grande created" with Tommy Brown, Victoria Monét, and Tayla Parx — "was registered on the website for the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers in June." Hmm.
Regardless, the pop princess has since updated her website with two countdowns, which we're guessing is for the single and the album. People reported that, according to the clock, the single is to drop on Oct. 23, 2020, and the album on Halloween-eve, Oct. 30, 2020. Stay tuned!
