The Truth About Kylie Jenner And Cardi B's Relationship
Kylie Jenner seems to be the A-list friend everyone wants. Before their falling out, the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star gave ex-best friend Jordyn Woods a new Mercedes-Benz for her 20th birthday, per People, and consistently brings her friends along on her private plane for getaways. In October 2020, rapper Cardi B joined the list of people who have reaped the benefits of being pals with the Kylie Cosmetics mogul.
According to Entertainment Tonight, Kylie "gave the rapper a powder blue Birkin bag for her 28th birthday." For reference, Birkin bags range from $40,000 to $500,000, per Business Insider. The "Bodak Yellow" rapper shared the gift via her Instagram Story, writing (via Entertainment Tonight), "Look at this Birkin. Thank you, Kylie Jenner!" Kylie joined celebrities like Megan Thee Stallion for Cardi B's birthday bash in Las Vegas, according to Entertainment Tonight.
"Bing Bylie! She goes by King Kylie, but you know we've gotta B, B, B. Powder blue. I know I've got a bathing suit that can match this s**t," Cardi B on her Instagram Story. At first, Kylie Jenner and Cardi B may seem like an unlikely pair, but their friendship goes beyond big gifts.
Kylie Jenner and Cardi B both have young daughters
The relationship between Cardi B and Kylie Jenner may be thanks, in part, to their daughters. A friendship between the two stars was first evident when Cardi B's daughter, Kulture Kiari Cephus, was invited to Kylie's daughter Stormi Webster's 2nd birthday party.
Stormi World — which was obviously over the top — included guests like Rosalía, the rest of the Kardashian family and of course, Cardi's daughter, Kulture. Although Harper's Bazaar reported that Cardi B and husband Offset were not in attendance, an 18-month Kulture attended with her aunt, Hennessy Carolina.
The Invasion of Privacy rapper shared her daughter's outing with her aunt on Instagram with the caption "Kulture making some rich friends and eating all the foods at #stormiworld. Im so happy my baby enjoyed herself! Happy Birthday beautiful Stormi! Keep glowing and growing."
Both Kylie and Cardi B have faced criticism for their parenting styles and for giving their young daughters lavish presents. In July 2020, Cardi B faced backlash for gifting Kulture a pink Birkin bag for her second birthday, and Kylie was called out by a famous former Housewife for daughter Stormi's Hermes backpack on her first day of school.
Cardi B stood up for Kylie Jenner following 'WAP' music video cameo
Cardi B and Kylie Jenner's friendship was seemingly confirmed when the reality star was featured in Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion's music video for their 2020 single "WAP."
The rapper was heavily criticized for Kylie's cameo in the video. In fact, fans even started a petition to have the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star removed from the video. Cardi B stood up for Kylie via Twitter as fans compared the reality star's cameo with the dance break featuring former Fifth Harmony singer Normani.
"Normani is one of the best female artist that dances Like she dances her f**kin ass off! Why would she open a door? Please tell me how that would make sense? The best part of the song is the beat & hook it what makes you want to shake your ass," the rapper wrote in a since-deleted tweet (via Us Weekly). Cardi continued her Twitter rant in defense of Jenner, stating the reasons why she included the star in her "WAP" video. "Why did I put Kylie on my music video? She treated my sister and daughter so lovely at her kid bday party."
The rapper also noted that Kylie's on-again, off-again boyfriend Travis Scott is a "real close" friend of Cardi B's husband Offset, adding that she had been getting "advice on certain things" from Kylie's momager, Kris Jenner.
