The Truth About Naya Rivera's Ex Ryan Dorsey And Her Sister, Nickayla
On July 8, 2020, Glee alum Naya Rivera disappeared after boating at Lake Piru with her then-4-year-old son Josey. Authorities searched for Naya, under the assumption that she was not alive and had drowned. On July 13, 2020, her body was found in the lake, and ET reported that, per the death certificate, the actor's official cause of death was drowning. Josey, who she shared with ex-husband Ryan Dorsey, told police that they went swimming and that his mom disappeared under the water after she helped him back onto the rented boat. The death certificate noted that Rivera died within minutes.
Rivera was laid to rest on July 24, 2020, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles with a private funeral that included 25 family members, Glee cast members, and close friends, ET Online reported. On the day after the funeral, both Dorsey and Naya's younger sister, Nickayla Rivera (pictured above), posted tributes to Naya on Instagram. Dorsey shared, "This is so unfair. I can't believe this is life now. I don't know if I'll ever believe it." Nickayla wrote, "I've never known a life without you in it & still can't imagine it. My world is turned upside down. But through it all, everything we were, we are still. I'll always look at you with the same eyes as I did when I was young."
Both Dorsey and Nickayla miss Naya, so it arguably would be understandable that in the months following her passing, they have leaned on each other. With that in mind, here's everything we know about their friendship.
Ryan Dorsey reportedly has a new roommate
On Sept. 28, 2020, Daily Mail reported that Naya Rivera's ex-husband Ryan Dorsey had moved into a rental home with her younger sister, Nickayla Rivera. Nickayla has seemingly stepped up to help take care of Naya and Dorsey's son, Josey. The website shared photos of the pair supposedly moving belongings into the 3-bedroom home with some help from Dorsey's parents. The property reportedly costs about $5,000 monthly in rent and has a pool in the backyard.
The outlet also shared photos seemingly of Nickayla and Dorsey holding hands as they shopped at Target on Sept. 19, 2020. A fellow Target shopper told the Daily Mail, "They seem really comfortable together and are obviously helping each other through a very difficult period in both their lives." This same person claimed, "They were fooling around and chatting the whole time. They're obviously helping lift each other's spirits."
As of this writing, there are no additional updates on the reported living arrangement, and neither Dorsey nor Nickayla has publicly commented on the matter.
