The Sweet Way Mandy Moore Just Announced Her Pregnancy
Congratulations are in order for Mandy Moore! That's because the This Is Us star (and iconic singer of "Candy") revealed on Sept. 24, 2020, that she and husband Taylor Goldsmith are expecting their first child — a boy. "Baby Boy Goldsmith coming early 2021," she captioned the Instagram slideshow announcing her pregnancy, adding a blue heart for emphasis.
Although the news came as a surprise to many fans, it sounds like Moore had planned on motherhood. The singer revealed in a 2017 interview with E! News that playing mother-of-three Rebecca Pearson on the hit NBC series made her "ovaries start kicking" and that she wanted children "sooner rather than later." At the time, she wasn't even engaged to Goldsmith, but knew she wanted him to be the father of her babies. When asked if she and the Dawes frontman were planning on having kids of their own, the Walk to Remember actor reportedly "flashed a big smile," and coyly replied, "Maybe."
Speaking of Goldsmith, in July 2020, Moore gushed to People about the (actual) joy of quarantining with her husband of nearly two years. "I'm just so grateful that I've been quarantined with someone that I like so much and I've learned so much about," she revealed to the outlet. "I'm having this unfettered time to spend with my husband at home that I'll never get again." And the couple's love for one another — and their impending child — couldn't have been more clear in Moore's Instagram announcement.
Mandy Moore's announcement radiated pure joy
Mandy Moore declared her pregnancy via a heartfelt Instagram post on Sept. 24, 2020., with the "I Wanna Be With You" singer sharing a series of three black-and-white photos show her and husband Taylor Goldsmith (pictured above) cradling her baby bump.
In the first picture, Goldsmith, wearing a collared shirt underneath a sweater, pressed his cheek against Moore's, a blissful grin on his face. He pressed one hand against her stomach, while Moore, wearing a dark floral dress, smiled broadly. The slight blurriness of the image didn't even matter: Their sheer joy was palpable. The second shot featured the couple's torsos, with each of them putting a hand on the bump. Moore's diamond wedding ring glinted. Moore wrapped one arm around her husband's shoulder in the third and final slide, while Goldsmith looked down at the expectant bump with a smile. Moore absolutely beamed. Both soon-to-be-parents once again cradled the actor's stomach. Aw.
We wish Mandy Moore and Taylor Goldsmith all the best on their exciting journey towards parenthood!
