Carrie Underwood's ACM Awards Looks Were Getting A Lot Of Attention
Even virtually, Carrie Underwood turned heads at the 2020 Academy of Country Music Awards on Sept. 16 — and not just because she was the only female nominated amid a slew of male artists for the Entertainer of the Year award. (Other nominees included Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Luke Combs, Thomas Rhett.)
As reported by People, the "Before He Cheats" singer brought the house down at the Grand Ole Opry while performing a medley of songs by Opry members including Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Barbara Mandrell, Martina McBride, Reba McEntire, and Dolly Parton. As one can imagine, the mashup SLAPPED, right?! (Isn't that what all the cool kids are saying these days about hit songs?)
Although her performance was the talk of the town, we'd be remiss if we also didn't make note of the dresses she opted to perform in because it was a LEWK AND A HALF. Keep reading after the jump to check out Underwood's ACM Awards attire!
Carrie Underwood shined bright in a gold mini dress
As reported by People, country's golden girl, Carrie Underwood shined bright at the Academy of Country Music Awards in... you guessed it, a gold-mini dress with a pair of golden high heels to match. The higher the heel the closer to God, right?! Although the dress was short, it still managed to pack a mean punch with puffy, oversized draping sleeves and a full skirt. Think of the top half as a power suit with shoulder pads, but make it fashion! As far as her golden locks go, the singer opted to wear her hair down in loose waves and parted to one side.
If anything, Underwood has proved that, although the ACM Awards may look a bit different this year due to social distancing, there's absolutely no reason to not BRING IT in the wardrobe department. After all, as the old saying goes, "dress for the job you want, not the one you have."
Carrie Underwood was a pink dream
Although we loved Carrie Underwood's gold ensemble, she also stunned in a "floral red tulle dress with delicate embroidered detailing," as POPSUGAR noted. It was a classic, dreamy look, and Underwood rocked it like a true country queen.
As for fan reactions, one person wrote, "LOVED your pink dress during your tribute to the great women of Country." Someone else said, "Loved this dress. Perfect."
Underwood has yet to reveal her inspiration for the look as of this writing, although she did previously talk about her style icons — Reese Witherspoon and Charlize Theron. "They are beautiful, but in a natural way," she told NFocus magazine (via Taste of Country). "They look like they take care of themselves but don't do anything too crazy. They always look and act classy."
Fashion aside, congratulations to all of the nominees and winners alike!
