Are Emilia Clarke And Matt Smith Dating? Here's What We Know
There aren't many men who could date the Mother Of Dragons. Game of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke's previous suitors have included Family Guy creator Seth McFarlane, as well as writer and director Charlie McDowell, the son of Mary Steenburgen and Malcolm McDowell. Neither of these partnerships, however, lasted for the long haul. There may have been a slow-burn romance brewing for years, though. One that began on the set of 2015's Terminator Genisys.
That's where Emilia Clarke was first linked, at least professionally, to Matt Smith, a fellow Brit known for his roles as Prince Philip in The Crown and as the 11th Doctor in Doctor Who. When the two appeared together in the 2015 film, Clarke was rumored to be dating another co-star, Jai Courtney, while Smith was in the midst of a years-long relationship with actress Lily James, per Us Magazine. Smith and James, however, are rumored to have split in late 2019 after not being spotted together for nearly five months. The relationship was serious; in 2018, the Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again actress told Marie Claire UK (via ET Canada) that the couple had purchased a home together.
That said, Smith set fans into a flurry when he was spotted out and about with a woman who was decidedly not Lily James.
Emilia Clarke and Matt Smith went out in London
Emilie Clarke and Matt Smith sparked rumors they were more than just friends after being spotted out together in the Soho neighborhood of London in September 2020. In photos published by the Daily Mail, Clarke and Smith are seen walking through the streets together, grinning ear to ear. Earlier in the evening, the two actors shared a meal at Bob Bob Ricard, a Russian-inspired restaurant in the neighborhood.
The sighting comes about two months after Lily James was spotted with Captain America star Chris Evans several times within a week, adding further fuel to the fire of speculation that her relationship with Smith had come to a close. While James and Smith have not given any official word on the state of their relationship since 2019, they also haven't done very much to squash the rumors of their breakup. If their relationship has, in fact, ended, it would seem that Smith is finally moving on.
