Christina Aguilera Is Worth A Lot More Than You Think
Christina Aguilera's pop stardom began when she was just a child. Performing on the hit show Star Search at the age of 8, the artist's singing chops landed her a spot on The Mickey Mouse Club opposite soon-to-be Hollywood elite Ryan Gosling, Justin Timberlake, and Britney Spears. Not too long after, Spears and Aguilera would be pitted against each other as the reigning '90s pop princesses.
The singer released her debut studio album Christina Aguilera in 1999, which charted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The defining single from the album that burst Aguilera into the pop world was No. 1 hit "Genie in a Bottle." Twenty years later, Aguilera has dropped eight studio albums, including a second No. 1 project Back To Basics in 2006. The singer has charted at No. 1 on the Hot 100 five times, including "What a Girl Wants," "Come on Over Baby (All I Want Is You)," "Lady Marmalade," and "Moves Like Jagger."
On top of her vocal chops, Aguilera proved her acting (and dancing) skills as Ali Rose in Burlesque opposite Cher in 2010. The film made a reported $90 million. Then in 2011, Aguilera shared her voice as a judge on The Voice for Seasons 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, and 10. The singer has since called the experience an "energy sucker."
So with over 25 years in the entertainment business, how much money has Aguilera earned? Here's a shocker — it's quite a lot.
Christina Aguilera has had 18.3 million career album sales
Five-time Grammy-winning artist Christina Aguilera is no stranger to accolades, and apparently no stranger to money either. The pop superstar has a reported net worth of $160 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth. However, Wealthy Persons reports it may be just even higher, estimating the singer's net worth at $180 million.
Where does this $160 to $180 million come from? As of August 2019, Aguilera had 8.3 million in album sales for her debut studio album Christina Aguilera, 4.4 million for Stripped, 1.7 million for Back to Basics, 1 million for My Kind of Christmas, and even 779,000 for the Burlesque soundtrack. Adding up all of her album sales together, Billboard reported the singer has had 18.3 million career album sales.
On top of album sales, Aguilera made a reported $17 million on earlier seasons of The Voice, before the judge took a pay cut to about $12.5 million per season. The "Dirrty" singer clearly has "What A Girl Wants."
