How Miranda Lambert Really Feels About Gwen Stefani
Country power couple Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton called it quits in July 2015 after four years of marriage. Just months after their divorce was finalized, the "God's Country" singer started dating fellow Voice coach Gwen Stefani. It's worth noting that in August 2015, news broke that Stefani and ex-husband Gavin Rossdale were also going their separate ways – just one month after Shelton and Lambert's split.
Shelton and Stefani's relationship immediately took center stage in Hollywood, with millions of fans watching their romance unfold on The Voice, as well as on social media, at red carpet events, and during award shows. However, there were also two so-called "jilted" lovers in this situation: namely, Lambert and Rossdale.
Since Stefani and Rossdale share three children, it seems like it might be important for the Bush frontman and Shelton to get along as co-parents. But as for Lambert and Stefani? With no kids to bind them together, there are seemingly no rules there. Which, of course, leaves fans dying to know Miranda Lambert's true feelings about Gwen Stefani.
How did Miranda Lambert react when Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani first started dating?
While the pairing of Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani may have come as a surprise to the world — the two do seem like polar opposites, and not just in their respective genres of music — Miranda Lambert reportedly saw it coming. A source told E! News: "She was not surprised to hear of the romance between Blake and Gwen. They were always pretty flirty. Miranda and Blake were on the rocks on and off and knew that this could always be a possibility."
Prior to Lambert and Shelton's 2015 divorce, the country crooner had reportedly been spending a lot of time with Stefani, if for no other reason than the fact that they were both coaches on The Voice. Of course, with selfies like this one on Stefani's Instagram — which was captioned "[heart] him" and posted in November 2014 — it's not hard to see that the two were already getting quite close.
Miranda Lambert said she hung up the phone when asked about Gwen Stefani
While she was doing press for her 2016 double-disc album, The Weight of These Wings, Miranda Lambert decided to let her music do the talking, only agreeing to do interviews after the lengthy record dropped. Given the pop culture landscape at this time — Blake Shelton had just started dating Gwen Stefani in late 2015 (while for her part, Lambert was dating Anderson East) — it made sense that everyone was chomping at the bit to know the "Vice" singer's reaction to her ex-husband's new high-profile relationship.
As Lambert told HITS Daily Double in July 2018, one interviewer wasted no time getting down to business. Needless to say, she was none too pleased. "... I got on the phone for the first interview. First question was, 'How do you feel about Gwen [Stefani]?'" Lambert recalled. "I hung up. I told [manager] Marion [Kraft], I just can't do this." She continued: "What was in the music was real, and I wanted people to get it from that. Take from it what they would. Then if I needed to talk, I would."
Did Miranda Lambert body shame Gwen Stefani?
Miranda Lambert and Gwen Stefani may never be the best of friends (and understandably so), but did the country singer really diss the No Doubt front woman's appearance? According to one report, yes.
This tidbit of information is what one loose-lipped insider told The National Enquirer (via Celebrity Insider) in 2019, so take from that what you will. "Miranda's super fit thanks to her diet and workout with her fitness-fanatic-police-officer hubby. Miranda was ripping Gwen's looks and saying they were produced by the best doctors money could buy. She shamed Gwen for being built on a foundation of Botox and fillers."
For what it's worth, Stefani has never copped to altering her face in any way, so there's no proof that she's had any work done. Plus, Lambert has been married to retired NYPD officer Brendan McLoughlin since 2019, so it would be a little odd if she was still this concerned about her ex's girlfriend.
Miranda Lambert is so in love with her husband
Speaking of Miranda Lambert's marriage to Brendan Mcloughlin (pictured right), the two are doing amazing as of July 2020. The singer revealed during an appearance on Taste of Country Nights that she and Mcloughlin have weathered the COVID-19 pandemic without any issues, even enjoying a road trip east during their downtime. "He loves to clean, and I knew that, but it has really come in handy," she shared, per Taste of Country.
Gushing about her marriage, Lambert added, "We're pretty much newlyweds since we've only been married a year-and-a-half but we've already survived a pandemic so I think we're golden."
Considering Mcloughlin retired from the NYPD to join Lambert's security team, as People reported, we have a feeling they'll be spending even more time together. And there's a good chance the star will be too busy enjoying life with her new husband to give Gwen Stefani another thought.
