DaBaby's Girlfriend: Who Is The Rapper Dating Now?
DaBaby (born Jonathan Lyndale Kirk) has been rising quickly in the rapping world with the success of his 2019 breakthrough single "Suge (Yea Yea)," which peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song earned him two Grammy nominations, and the "Suge" music video has more than 254 million views at the time of reporting. He also took the stage at the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards, performing a few tracks, including his TikTok-fueled hit "Rockstar."
DaBaby's success, though, comes with massive media attention, with headlines covering everything from his tweet supporting Kanye West's presidential run to his outfit at 2017's SXSW (he wore a diaper, which went viral). Another particular aspect of DaBaby's life that gets closely observed is his dating life. He has a toddler with his ex-girlfriend MeMe, and he confirmed in a series of videos that he has a baby on the way with a mystery woman.
Now, rumors are stirring that he is dating fellow rapper and songwriter DaniLeigh (or at least fans are convinced that he was for a little bit). So, who is the North Carolina native's potential girlfriend, DaniLeigh?
DaniLeigh is a rapper, dancer, and protégé of Prince
DaniLeigh (whose full name is Danielle Leigh Curiel) was born in Miami, Fla. The 25-year-old rapper and dancer was always singing as a kid, and posted song covers on YouTube, according to her website. She gained footing in the music industry after moving to LA where she took up dancing. Prince (yes, the Purple One) saw her dancing videos and hand-picked her to direct his "Breakfast Can Wait" video when she was just 18 years old.
The "Blue Chips" singer was able to meet several directors and learn valuable information about the industry during that gig, as she told Harper's Bazaar in 2019. She also explained how Prince helped her get ready for life as a rising dancer and singer. "He taught me a lot about the industry, he told me to be careful of who I sign to make sure it's the right move, things like that," she said.
DaniLeigh's hit "Lil Bebe," which had 20 million streams on Spotify within its first year of release, catapulted her into mainstream success. Since then, she has kept hustling while making friends with some major names: She's hung out with Meg Thee Stallion and collaborated with Chris Brown for the "Easy" remix remix and G-Eazy for her song "Cravin."
DabBay's and DaniLeigh's relationship is full of unconfirmed hints
DaBaby has been linked to Prince's protégé, DaniLeigh, since she co-choreographed DaBaby's "BOP" music video. Then, DaBaby appeared on Danileigh's song "Levi High." The rapper told Levi.com that DaBaby heard "Levi High" when they were in the studio together, and knew he had to be part of it. "It was perfect. Took him like 15 minutes to do the verse," she explained.
Then, rumors of a hot flame really ignited when DaBaby's April 2020 album Blame It on Baby was released. In the song "Go," he even name-dropped the "Easy" singer. "R&B freak, I try to f**k her every day / Curly-haired jiggy b***h, it might be DaniLeigh," he raps.
Prior to the album's release, dating rumors began to spark when DaniLeigh and DaBaby's baby mama got into a heated Twitter exchange, which ultimately led to DaniLeigh blocking her. Consequently, MeMe tweeted (via Cheatsheet), "Sis got me blocked, but word keeps getting back to me," and called her "obsessed."
Following this drama, DaniLeigh posted a cozy photo of her in bed holding onto a tattooed arm that many believe belongs to DaBaby. They were then spotted out in West Hollywood in June, per The Shade Room. While fans were positive the two were dating, the whirlwind relationship may actually be over.
DaBaby and DaniLeigh might have already broken up
While DaniLeigh didn't deny a romantic relationship with DabBaby during a Hot 97 radio interview in June 2020, she posted a cryptic Instagram Story a month later that has fans believing their romantic connection is no more. Before landing in the Dominican Republic, the singer posted that she has worked so hard to get her album, movie, and press finished. On top of that, she revealed she was hurt during the process of creating her new projects, writing, "I worked so hard even in the process of being hurt.. I'm clearing my mind.. cleansing my soul.. and finding closure for myself."
There has been no public comment made by either rapper; however, DaBaby and DaniLeigh are no longer following each other on Instagram. DaniLeigh has most recently released a music video for her single "Dominican Mami" and DaBaby teased that he plans to release another album by the end of 2020 during an interview with Apple Music.
