The Real Reason Amanza And Taye Diggs Broke Up
Who doesn't love Netflix's Selling Sunset? The reality show offers glimpses into decadent mansions snuggled into the Hollywood Hills while keeping viewers entertained thanks to the drama that inevitably reaches a boiling point between The Oppenheim Group realtors.
The show has become such a hit that fans get invested in the personal lives of the remarkably successful realtors, too. Just think of all the drama Christine Quinn brings to the screen, not to mention her lavish, Gothic-princess wedding, which was the culminating event of Season 3. There's also the life of Chrishell Stause, who actually struggles watching episodes of the Netflix show. And, of course, the show wouldn't be complete without Heather Rae Young and her relationship with Flip or Flop's Tarek El Moussa.
Then, there's the gorgeous Amanza Smith who broke into the real estate world after working as a home stager and designer. Amanza was previously married to former NFL player Ralph Brown, but it was her relationship with Empire actor Taye Diggs that made headlines. While they seemed like the perfect couple, they ended up splitting. So what happened?
Amanza Smith and Taye Diggs remained private about their breakup
Amanza Smith tied the knot with former NFL player Ralph Brown in 2010, per Women's Health. However, the former couple — who share two children — parted ways "sometime around 2012," according to Express. Per Women's Health, "In season three, fans watch as Amanza goes through the process for full custody of their children."
After splitting up with Brown, Amanza moved on with Taye Diggs, perhaps best known for his Broadway roles, his time on Private Practice and his starring role in the movie How Stella Got Her Groove Back. According to the U.K.'s Metro, Amanza and Taye began dating in 2014. The actor even appeared on an episode of Selling Sunset in Season 2 as he was buying a house from Amanza's longtime friend and realtor Mary Fitzgerald, per Express.
It wasn't long after Diggs appeared on the show that he and Amanza split up with the two calling it quits in 2018, according to Express. While neither party publicly commented on the breakup, any Selling Sunset fan will tell you that it seems like when it comes to Amanza, her family and career come first.
