Hugh Hefner's Son Welcomes His First Child
The late Hugh Hefner's son, Cooper Hefner, has welcomed a baby girl with his wife of less than one year, Scarlett Byrne. Cooper and the Harry Potter star's bundle of joy arrived on Aug. 24, 2020. The baby weighed in at six pounds, five ounces as reported by E! News.
Cooper, who reduced his role in the Playboy empire in April 2019 and has since launched a bid for Senate in California, took to Instagram to share the good news. Along with sharing photos of his wife and their new daughter at the hospital, Cooper penned the caption, "At 5:23 p.m. this afternoon Scarlett and I welcomed our daughter Betsy Rose Hefner into the world. We are overwhelmed with gratitude, love and joy."
The proud papa gushed to E! News about the prospect of the couple — who — who dated for about six years before tying the knot — taking little Betsy home and getting her all settled in. "We look forward to being home and spending time together as a family in the days and weeks ahead," he said. But how did the couple settle on such a chic name for their new baby girl? Cooper Hefner chose a meaningful name for his baby
In an exclusive statement to E! News, Cooper Hefner shared that he and his wife, Scarlette Byrne, chose to name their daughter after Hefner's grandmother, Betsy Aldridge-Conrad, who passed away in July of 2020. "My grandmother meant the world to both Scarlett and I," Hefner revealed. Aww! We're not crying, you're crying!
Cooper also paid tribute to his grandma on Instagram, writing in part, "For me, Mema was another mother. The two of us shared a bond that filled my life with a joy and warmth that took me home no matter where I was in the world."
It's also worth noting that Hefner flew Grandma Betsy across the pond from America to the United Kingdom to celebrate with the couple and their families after gifting the Harry Potter actor with a colossal yellow diamond engagement ring, according to Us Weekly. Hefner put some serious time and thought into the engagement, and even flew to Byrne's birthplace in London to run the proposal by her dad before popping the question in August of 2015.
Congratulations to the couple on their new family member!
