These Are The Famous Women Lil Wayne Has Dated
Rapper Lil Wayne — born Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. — is not your average, everyday rapper. He solidified his name as one of the greatest rappers alive, according to Billboard, as early as 11 years old after he signed his first record label contract. Drake said it best in a 2011 conversation with Interview magazine, "Everybody's a Lil Wayne fan." Of course, everyone includes women who are interested in him romantically, and as a rapper with a net worth of $150 million (per Celebrity Net Worth), the bachelorettes lined up pretty quickly.
The "6 Foot 7 Foot" rapper has only been married once, as of the writing of this article, but he's got a few engagements under his belt. According to Distractify, his many relationships have resulted in four children — Reginae Carter, Dwayne Carter III, Kameron Carter, and Neal Carter — all of whom have different mothers. Let's take a look into Lil Wayne's little (or big) black book.
Toya Johnson gave birth to Lil Wayne's only daughter
Lil Wayne met his ex-wife, author and TV personality Antonia "Toya" Johnson, when they were 13 years old. According to a 2016 interview with Essence, they met in a corner store in New Orleans, La. and proceeded to date. She considered them to be each other's first loves. At the age of 15 — Lil Wayne was 16 — Johnson gave birth to their daughter, Reginae Carter. The two married in 2004 and divorced two years later after having a turbulent marriage, which included an affair with singer Nivea.
"When he started dating Nivea, I didn't know anything about it. Then I found out and he admitted it to me that he was dating her and that's when the marriage came apart. That's why you can't believe everything you hear," Johnson said in a 2007 interview with VIBE. "It's crazy how it goes. We were planning a wedding, and he was with Nivea. Him and Nivea split up and six months later me and him were married. It was crazy."
Though their relationship had its ups and downs, Johnson considered the rapper family. "Wayne and I, we have a really good relationship," she told Essence. "It took us a minute to get to this point but I'm happy that we are here."
Lil Wayne dated a mix of singers and rappers
Lil Wayne spent a few years dating and working with talented women in the music industry. During a 2017 interview with The Breakfast Club (via Billboard), rapper Trina spoke about her reported on-again-off-again relationship with the "Lollipop" rapper, which began in 2005. She said, "Wayne is a very great person. Wayne never did anything wrong to me. The thing is, when I dated Wayne — which was so many years ago — we were just real young."
Wayne also had an up-and-down relationship with singer Nivea. The two first began dating in 2002, per her interview with Sister to Sister magazine in 2003, and were briefly engaged. They gave it a go again in 2007 — which led to Wayne's second child, Neal Carter, in November 2009 — and officially called it quits in 2010.
In 2014, he dated multi-hyphenate Christina Milian for less than a year. During a 2016 Hot 97 interview, the singer and mother-of-two said the rapper tried to get her attention for over 15 years. She told the radio host Ebro, "When I first started my career, he was one of the first people who got my number somehow and used to text me and stuff like that."
Lil Wayne's ex Lauren London still considers him a 'dear friend'
Though Lil Wayne met many of his former partners during his more famous years, actress Lauren London was one of the two women — along with Toya Johnson — who the rapper met in adolescence. Despite Lil Wayne being notoriously open about his romantic relationships, his on-and-off union with London was more private and discreet — more in line with London's way of living.
The actress said in a 2013 interview with Hot 97, "I've been knowing Wayne since I was 15." During their relationship — which ultimately concluded in 2009 — they were briefly engaged and London gave birth to their son Kameron Carter. When asked in an interview with KathleenCross.com what ended their relationship, the ATL star said, "We were in a relationship that didn't make it. We tried more than once to revive it, and we were engaged briefly years ago, but we eventually parted ways. My son's father is an intelligent, loving, and lovable person who will always be a dear friend. That is all."
London went on to have a longstanding relationship with rapper Nipsey Hussle, who was murdered in March 2019.
Lil Wayne is now dating a plus-sized model
Lil Wayne's healthy and full dating life included plenty of speculation about potential romances. He was rumored to be connected to professional basketball player Skylar Diggins, singer Keri Hilson, model Tammy Torres, and singer Teairra Marí (who admitted to some sort of connection in a 2017 interview with Hollywood Unlocked). A couple of women — author Karrine "Superhead" Steffans and former Destiny's Child member Farrah Franklin — both acknowledged having relationships with the rapper, but couldn't handle his rockstar lifestyle.
Between 2005 and 2009, Wayne was dating radio host and media personality Sarah ViVan, with whom he had his fourth child, Dwayne Carter III, in October 2008. ViVan told Global Grind TV in a 2014 interview (per HipHopDX), "I was young, I was like 19. I was just in love, but I liked being behind the scenes cause it was so new to me. All of it."
As of August 2020, Lil Wayne is dating plus-size model Denise Bidot, following his years-long relationship with waitress Dhea Sodano that ended in 2019, according to iHeartRadio. Bidot made her relationship with the rapper Instagram official on July 10, 2020 with a picture of the two of them captioned, "I could kiss you forever."
