Mila Kunis Is Worth A Lot More Than You Think
Mila Kunis arrived in the United States from Ukraine when she was just 7. Along with her parents, Mark and Elvira, and her brother, Michael, the now-actor moved to Los Angeles in 1991 with only $250, as the now-actor relayed to The Telegraph. Seven years later, Kunis would be in everyone's living rooms as Jackie Burkhart on the Fox hit series, That '70s Show. Although her parents wanted Mila and Michael to have a better life in the U.S., they may not have imagined that their daughter would become as big of a celebrity as she has become.
Now, Kunis is known for her movie roles in titles like Ted, Friends with Benefits, Jupiter Ascending, and Black Swan. She is also known for voicing Meg on the animated series, Family Guy. With all of that work on her resumé, Kunis is taking it to the bank. Find out just how much the actor is worth and where she is getting her earnings after the jump.
Mila Kunis rose to stardom at a young age
Mila Kunis was only 14 when she appeared on her first of 200 episodes of That '70s Show in 1998. As Jackie Burkhart, Kunis played a self-centered teen from a well-to-do family. In Kunis' real life, her parents had esteemed professions in the former Soviet Union with her mother as a physics teacher and her father as a mechanical engineer, per The Sun. "My parents both had amazing jobs, and I was very lucky," Kunis told The Telegraph in 2011. "We were not poor when we lived in Russia, whereas most people were very unfortunate."
However, Kunis' parents moved the family to California in 1991 through refugee visas for a better life. "When I was in school you would still see anti-Semitic signs," she recalled to The Sun in 2012 about the move. Unfortunately, the family could only bring $250 with them and their degrees and jobs didn't transfer to the U.S.
Kunis started on That '70s Show seven years after moving to the U.S., and although it's not exactly clear how much she made on the series, one of her co-stars raked in "$250,000 to $300,000 per episode," at the show's peak, per The Hollywood Reporter (via Entertainment Weekly). Kunis also got hired to voice Meg Griffin on the Fox series, Family Guy, with Celebrity Net Worth reporting that the show's principal "voice actors each earn $100,000 per episode."
Mila Kunis' switch to movies increased her earning power
Mila Kunis and her co-stars said goodbye to That '70s Show in 2006 when its run ended on Fox. It allowed the actor to expand her work into movies, scoring breakout roles in the 2008 comedy Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and the action-drama, The Book of Eli, in early 2010.
However, Kunis is arguably best known for wowing audiences and critics in her performance as Lily in Black Swan. She played opposite Natalie Portman as a rival ballerina vying for the lead in Swan Lake. Kunis earned a Golden Globes nomination for the role.
As for the movie that made the biggest box office total in Kunis' film career? Look no further than Ted, a 2012 comedy co-starring Mark Walberg whose childhood teddy bear comes to life. It earned more than $549 million in its worldwide box office, according to Box Office Mojo. Despite Ted becoming a hit, Kunis did not return for Ted 2, released in 2015, reportedly due to script changes and her first pregnancy with her daughter, Wyatt.
More movie roles would come Kunis' way. She would later appear in Oz The Great and Powerful in 2013, Jupiter Ascending in 2015, and The Spy Who Loved Me in 2018. She even created a comedy franchise with Bad Moms in 2016 and its sequel, A Bad Moms Christmas, in 2017.
Mila Kunis' hard work has paid off
Since becoming a mother and a wife, Mila Kunis has slowed down her work schedule. Post-The Spy Who Loved Me, she has only been in two movies — 2019's Wonder Park as a voice character, and the upcoming Four Good Days. Kunis continues to voice Meg on Family Guy, but her salary is more than it was in 1999. As of 2013, she makes between $175,000 and $225,000 per episode, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
So what is Kunis' net worth in 2020? According to Celebrity Net Worth, the actor is supposedly worth $75 million. She lives in Beverly Hills with her husband and former That '70s Show co-star, Ashton Kutcher, and their two children, Wyatt and Dimitri. Kutcher, whose own net worth is reportedly $200 million, agrees with Kunis that they shouldn't give their children trust funds, despite their sizable income.
"My kids are living a really privileged life, and they don't even know it," Kutcher told Dax Shepard on the Armchair Expert podcast in 2018. "And they'll never know it, because this is the only one that they'll know."
Kunis said something similar in 2017 to Net-A-Porter, "Our kids have a crazy fun life where they visit at work. I take it for granted; I take so much of my life for granted. Both my husband and I try daily to remind ourselves how truly lucky we are." Lucky, indeed.
