Strange Things About Dog The Bounty Hunter's New Relationship
After Duane "Dog" Chapman's beloved ex-wife Beth died of throat cancer in June 2019, the bail bondsman tried his hand at love — but initially wasn't so lucky. Not too long after Beth's passing, Chapman began dating Moon Angell, a (one-time) friend of the family. His family, however, wasn't having it, with Chapman's daughter Lyssa going as far as to blatantly call Angell out on Twitter.
"You're [a] disgusting woman. Any person who moves in on a man weeks after losing his wife, who you were supposed to be a 'friend' to, Is the lowest scum on the planet," Lyssa wrote in December 2019. She also accused Angell of getting to know the Chapman family due to supposedly dating Lyssa's brother first.
But we're not here to talk about that romance — and fortunately for everyone involved, Chapman soon saw the error of his ways. Several months later, he started seeing a rancher named Francie Frane, who quickly earned the entire family's approval. Chapman popped the question to Frane, and the two couldn't be happier or more in love. Still, as to be expected with the outlandish reality TV star, their relationship has its unusual moments. Check out 'em out below.
Dog the Bounty Hunter wants his entire fanbase to attend their wedding
Duane "Dog" Chapman has amassed a huge fan following due to his years on reality television. And he loves his fans so much he even wants them to join in on the wedding festivities, which will happen after the COVID-19 lockdown is over. "I would love to have the biggest wedding there's ever been. I'm sorry but that's just me. I hope I can talk Francie into it and open it to my fans, the 'Dog Pound,' to everybody," Chapman told The Sun in May 2020.
"It would be one hell of a party and it's just what people need right now," he added. "I told Francie, people they need a little love after being locked down. I love the idea of that." Not to mention the fact that Francie Frane accompanied her soon-to-be husband on a bounty hunt in mid-July 2020, according to The Sun — which may give her a following of her own soon enough.
Dog the Bounty Hunter and Francie Frane seem destined to be together
It's as if fate intervened when it came to Duane "Dog" Chapman's relationship with Francie Frane. As The Sun reported, the couple first met when Chapman left a voicemail for Frane's husband, Bob, asking him to do some yard work at his home in Colorado — not knowing that Bob had passed away just several months before Chapman's ex-wife, Beth. To hear the reality star's daughter Lyssa tell it, Chapman and Frane then "began talking on the phone and became close — and are helping each other deal with the grief of losing their spouses."
In fact, as Chapman's daughter Lyssa told the outlet: "Beth would approve — I honestly believe that Beth sent Francie for my dad — I feel like Beth and Bob are up there watching down over them." That's definitely a step up from her tweet bashing her dad's ex, Moon Angell.
For Frane's part, she shared a handwritten message about meeting Chapman on her Instagram account. "You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have! So you cling to God and to his word with all your might because it's all you know to do. Then one day I looked up from the ashes and there you stood. WOW GOD!" Isn't that special?
Francie Frane had no idea who Dog the Bounty Hunter was at first
Francie Frane was on a trip to Arizona with her friend when she was informed that Beth Chapman, Dog the Bounty Hunter's wife, had passed away from throat cancer. While Frane empathized with Beth's death, she let her friend know she didn't know who the former reality star was. And when her friend told her it was Dog the Bounty Hunter's wife, Frane didn't get that reference either.
"I was like, 'No, I don't know who Dog The Bounty Hunter is,'" Frane recalled to The Sun. "She said 'Are you joking? Everybody knows who Dog the Bounty Hunter is.' So she pulls up pictures of Duane and Beth and she holds the phone up to me and she said, 'This is Dog the Bounty Hunter, you know who he is.'" She actually didn't, though. Frane continued, "And I looked at his picture and I say, 'I have no idea who that is and that guy needs a haircut.'"
Strangely enough, Frane's friend even had a vision that the two would become intertwined in some fashion. "God just said to me that you're going to meet Dog the Bounty Hunter and he's going to use you guys in a huge way to change lives," the friend told Frane, who initially laughed it off. Of course, the rest — as they say — is history.
