Body Language Expert Reveals What Photos Of Demi Lovato And Max Ehrich Say About Their Relationship
Demi Lovato and Max Ehrich have had a whirlwind romance. On July 23, 2020 — just four months after the "Waitin for You" singer and former Young and the Restless actor started dating — they announced their engagement. "I knew I loved you the moment I met you," Lovato wrote to her fiancée in an emotional Instagram caption. "It was something I can't describe to anyone who hasn't experienced it firsthand but luckily you did too." She continued by admitting she's "never felt so unconditionally loved by someone" other than her parents, and noted that she's feeling both "honored" and "ecstatic" when it comes to their future.
In turn, Ehrich took to IG to write, "You are every love song, every film, every lyric, every poem, everything I could ever dream of and then some in a partner in life. Words cannot express how infinitely in love with you I am forever and always and then some. ... I LOVE YOU SO MUCH @ddlovato AND WILL FOREVER CHERISH YOUR PURE, BEAUTIFUL, INFINITE SOUL." As for his state, he added, "ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh jeuejfjqjweuvu I'm so excited" along with three weeping emojis.
Although the lovebirds have sweet things to say about one other publicly, Dr. Fran Walfish, a Beverly Hills family and relationship psychotherapist and author of The Self-Aware Parent, who has appeared on The Doctors, CBS TV, and co-star on WE tv as an expert child psychologist, gave Nicki Swift some exclusive insight into what the pair's body language really says about their relationship.
Demi Lovato has a deep trust in Max Ehrich
Demi Lovato and Max Ehrich seem to be incredibly in love. However, relationship psychotherapist Dr. Fran Walfish told Nicki Swift that their photos prove that there's much more to their dynamic than what meets the eye. "Lovato's Instagram engagement photo shows her emotionally wide-open face, beaming adoring smile, and every muscle in her relaxed body that reveals a young woman in love," Dr. Walfish shared. She also noted that "[e]very aspect of the cues in her body language spell out trust. She appears to trust her fiancée." Beyond that, "she clearly surrenders herself entirely to her ... betrothed."
But what about Ehrich?
Dr. Walfish theorized to Nicki Swift that the actor seems just as enamored with Lovato as she is with him, pointing out that he "has the facial expression and eye-gaze of [a] young man in love who is giving himself in total to another person." But the expert also noticed that "[t]here is just a hint of stiffness in [Ehrich's] back," which suggests "that he may be holding back a wee bit, or that a certain level of intimacy and closeness to another person may be scary or too close for comfort." Oh, really? Dr. Walfish clarified, "Or, perhaps he worked out too hard at the gym the day before!"
That may be the case, but another photo might confirm that something's slightly off.
Max Ehrich might be uncomfortable with PDA
Demi Lovato and Max Ehrich are seemingly displaying signs of a deep love connection. However, relationship expert Dr. Fran Walfish theorizes not everything might be perfect between the two. Dr. Walfish's analysis stems from photos published in Pop Sugar on July 29, 2020, which show the celebrity couple cozying up to one another during a casual shopping trip in Los Angeles. Dr. Walfish explained to Nicki Swift that, although the pics have a similar dynamic to the engagement photo, "there is an ever so subtle pullback in the rear section of [Ehrich's] upper neck and lower jaw muscles that telegraph the same possible discomfort with closeness or, possibly, PDA's."
As for Lovato, she "looks to be giving her complete self to her man," Dr. Walfish noted.
Granted, it's understandable that Ehrich may be uncomfortable with such closeness and blatant PDA when the paparazzi are around. And, to be honest, we wouldn't be surprised if he's feeling a little apprehensive about the newness and speed of their romance, as well as the scrutiny from fans. We guess we'll have to wait and see if these two can make it last.
Can Demi Lovato and Max Ehrich make a marriage work?
Finally, Dr. Fran Walfish told Nicki Swift that there's one image of the pair that is the "most completely mutually surrendering photo in which" both Demi Lovato and Max Ehrich "appear to be fully at ease with extreme closeness." Back on July 4, 2020, Ehrich posted a pic on Instagram that shows him face-to-face with Lovato. "They are standing bodies very close with their chins and noses touching," Dr. Walfish noted. "They both appear to be laughing openly with their eyes half-closed about to kiss or ending a kiss," which shows "the beauty of Oneness captured in a visual moment."
"There is no question from their body language and from their story that a powerful and wonderful love exists between these two celebrities," according to Dr. Walfish. However, does that love translate into a lasting relationship?
As Dr. Walfish reminded us, "it takes more than love alone to make a marriage work. It requires two willing partners who are committed to hang in with each other during conflicts, challenges, and life's daily inevitable ups and down." On top of that, both "must be curious and truly care enough to want to 'listen' and hear their spouse's different point of view during disagreements, rather than shoving their own ideas down the other person's throat."
From the looks of it, Lovato and Ehrich do, indeed, care enough about each other to weather the road ahead. Stay tuned.
