Here's What Adrienne Bailon Typically Eats In A Day
Adrienne Bailon began making waves in 2000 after her band 3LW released their hit song, "No More (Baby I'ma Do Right)." From there, the singer starred in The Cheetah Girls on Disney Channel in 2003, dated Rob Kardashian from 2007 to 2009, and became a co-host on the daytime talk show The Real in 2013. Clearly, Bailon isn't going anywhere.
The television personality is used to appearing in front of the cameras, but in May 2020, she debuted her 20-pound weight loss on Instagram, and fans couldn't believe their eyes. "During this time more than ever... Staying healthy is at the top of my mind!" she captioned a photo of herself in a bathing suit. "Now... I've lost weight before but always gained it back... because I was not dieting & not changing my lifestyle! But not this time... It's been a year since I 'had enough' (have you ever gotten there? Where you're just tired of complaining about what you don't like & you're finally ready to take action & REALLY make changes!)"
At the end of the day, Bailon — who's currently married to Israel Houghton — wanted to be in good shape before she has a child and to feel confident in her own skin for once. "I went seasons without showing my arms because that was something I was really self-conscious about," she told Hola! US in November 2019. So, how did Bailon achieve her goal? Keep reading to find out her secrets below.
Adrienne Bailon follows a simple and healthy lifestyle
Adrienne Bailon is feeling herself ever since revealing her 20-pound weight loss in May 2020. So, how did the actress do it? For one, The Real co-host follows a very simple and healthy lifestyle — not a diet. Bailon starts her day with either oatmeal, avocado toast on Ezekiel bread or a rice cake, or a protein shake, she shared on her YouTube channel, All Things Adrienne, in December 2019.
"For lunch, I would eat huge salads, again with avocado. My favorite greens is arugula, it tastes delicious," she said. "I would chop up peppers and literally just make myself this huge, hearty salad. Another thing I would have in between as a snack — I love nuts, I still love popcorn, so I would still eat popcorn."
Bailon ends her day by munching on vegetables since she is "obsessed" with them. "I would make myself vegan chili, like a huge pot of beans," she added. "I love lentil soup. Oh my God, lentil soup blesses my soul. I would do soup and a bunch of roasted mushrooms. I love sautéed kale, steamed broccoli, but I felt so good about myself because I was like, 'I am filling myself with such good nutritional food.'" The singer also noted she "would drink a gallon of water a day," which helped her skin glow and kept her full between meals.
This is what Adrienne Bailon won't eat or drink
In order to reach her goal weight, Adrienne Bailon knew she had to cut out several things, including bread, pasta, and white refined carbs. "That is just not good for me," she admitted on her YouTube channel, All Things Adrienne. "I recognize that it makes me feel sluggish, it fills me up very quickly, it has no nutrients to it, and I recognize there's other alternatives that I have found to love just as much."
Bailon revealed she eats Ezekiel bread as her "replacement for regular bread" and "loves rice cakes." By adding in these healthier options, she doesn't feel like she's missing carbohydrates in her day-to-day life. "That makes me feel like I have bread, and I used to be obsessed with bread," Bailon added. "I know so many of us are like, 'I can't give that up.' There's no shortcuts, there's no easy way to do it."
The Cheetah Girls star also explained she doesn't drink alcohol, because if she did, "all of [her] self-discipline goes out the window," and she turns to junk food. "I am not only suddenly the Tasmanian devil when it comes to food, but I am, like, coming up with inventive ideas," she said. "'Let's leave here and go to Jack in the Box. From Jack in the Box, let's go to Taco Bell.' So, alcohol does actually expand your stomach, and two, it actually wreaks havoc on my vocal cords as well."
Adrienne Bailon says preparing for 'The Masked Singer' aided in her 'fitness goals'
Adrienne Bailon appeared on The Masked Singer as the flamingo in December 2019, and the Hollywood star revealed that preparing for the reality show "helped [her] with [her] fitness goals." So much so, Bailon would sing on the elliptical "every single day, every morning" for "45 minutes" to "get [her] stamina up."
"You've got to be able to sing these songs, dance the choreography, and not sound winded the entire time," Bailon said on her YouTube channel, All Things Adrienne, in December 2019. "I literally would do 45 minutes of elliptical in the morning, then I would go to dance rehearsal, and then I would do another 45 minutes of elliptical in the evening."
On her "off" days, Bailon would use the app, 8fit, to keep getting stronger. "It's an app that allows you to do workouts from home, and I am obsessed," she stated. "Me and [her husband] Israel [Houghton] would do two of these a day. I would knock this out and fell literally amazing. It was something easy for me to accomplish." However, Bailon noted that "you are not going to see results right away," but it's important to "focus on the goal of being healthy, and the results will come."
