Kourtney Kardashian And Scott Disick Should Never Get Back Together. Here's Why
Reality TV royalty Scott Disick and Kourtney Kardashian met in 2006, according to Cosmopolitan, in what feels like another era. Their fateful connection transpired in Mexico at the home of Girls Gone Wild creator Joe Francis, and Kourtney was less than impressed with Scott at the time.
During an episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, she said about Scott (via Cosmpolitan), "I just thought he was so annoying. He was four years younger, he lived in New York, he didn't have a job."
Despite this poor first impression, Kourtney and Scott began dating and embarked on a relationship that churned out many storylines for KUWTK. They also created their own little family, welcoming three children together: Mason, Penelope, and Reign.
But their love story wasn't all smooth sailing, as Kourtney and Scott broke up several times and dated other people. For instance, Kourtney dated model Younes Bendjima from 2016 to 2018, per Us Weekly. As for Scott, he romanced Sofia Richie for several years before calling it quits in late May 2020, Us Weekly reported. Despite these new relationships, Scott and Kourtney remained close and connected due to co-parenting. They also popped up in each other's social media, like, a lot.
So now that both Scott and Kourtney are reportedly single (disclaimer: there's a chance Scott and Richie might have reunited), rumors are buzzing that they might get back together. Although this seems like a logical and even romantic idea, it might not be the best decision. Keep reading to find out why.
Kourtney Kardashian dealt with ongoing cheating rumors
It wasn't long after Scott Disick and Kourtney Kardashian's first meeting in 2006 that cheating rumors began swirling around their relationship. In early March 2008, for example, Kourtney found texts from another woman in Scott's phone (something that got used as fodder for the Season 2 premiere of Keeping Up With the Kardashians), according to Cosmopolitan.
The two parted ways not too long after the incident, but they ultimately reunited in 2009. Kourtney then announced her first pregnancy a few months later, and Mason Disick was born in December 2009. Penelope Disick arrived in July 2012, and Reign Disick made his debut on Mason's birthday in 2014. However, this little family wouldn't stay intact for long.
In 2015, photos surfaced of Scott snuggling up to his ex-girlfriend, stylist Chloe Bartoli, in Monte Carlo, E! News reported. Not only that, but news surfaced that Scott was supposedly telling people he was single. Another source told E! News that Kourtney tried to put on a strong front "but she is over it. She's fed up. It's humiliating and disrespectful. How much more is she supposed to take?"
But the cheating rumors weren't the only thing that wore down their relationship.
Scott Disick's bad boy ways took a toll
Amid dealing with cheating rumors, Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick's relationship became strained because of Scott's partying ways. As early as August 2010, when Kourtney was filming Kourtney & Khloé Take Miami, Scott's behavior became increasingly problematic, and he ended up punching a mirror in one of the episodes, per Us Weekly.
Scott quit drinking after this and joined Kourtney in counseling, according to E! News. Unfortunately, it didn't last, and around 2015, E! News reported that Scott was "partying hard" and that he was out of control and had fallen "off the wagon."
The source alleged, "Scott does not seem to care about what he's doing. He's clearly unraveling... He's been in trouble before, but this is on another level."
Fortunately, Scott has made great strides since then, focusing on his recovery and children. "I feel like all Kourtney ever wanted from me was for me to be sober and healthy and just be there to take care of my family," he said during an episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. "I've been really present and haven't been drinking."
However, these gains don't mean the New York native should get back together with Kourtney.
Scott Disick wasn't always supportive
Of course, Scott Disick isn't a terrible person — it's just that he and Kourtney Kardashian probably should not get back together. In addition to the cheating scandals and Scott's party lifestyle, Scott wasn't always a supportive partner to Kourtney.
When Kourtney was filming Kourtney & Kim Take Miami in 2013, she was recovering from the birth of her second child, Penelope, per HuffPost. During the episode, Kourtney cried because she weighed 115 pounds and was having a hard time losing the baby weight.
Scott then offered his ideal body weight for Kourtney, saying: "Ugh, I feel like 93 is the dream. Your body was bangin' when I first saw you on the beach with that little a**," per HuffPost.
When Kourtney said she was trying to lose weight the healthy way, Scott replied, "Do it the healthy way, just do it faster." Ugh.
It's important to note that Scott has since changed his ways, and is very complimentary of Kourtney. "I am so thankful for what we have," he told the reality star during a 2019 interview for Kourtney's lifestyle website, Poosh. "Everyday I wake up, I thank you and I thank god."
So yeah, maybe Scott and Kourtney can just continue to co-parent and thrive separately. No need to try a relationship again!
