What The Bella Twins Typically Eat In A Day
It's no secret that Nikki Bella and Brie Bella (aka the Bella Twins) are incredibly fit, since they were both professional wrestlers for nearly 12 years. After being thrust into the spotlight, the duo had to look good in front of the cameras. "At around 20 years old, I started to educate myself on nutrition," Brie told Move Nourish Believe (via Sportskeeda). "I'm so grateful that I taught myself the importance of health and fitness in my early twenties." After working out a lot and eating healthy throughout their career, the sisters began to flaunt their incredible physiques all over their Instagrams, in the wrestling ring, and on the covers of magazines. Soon enough, the sisters were everyone's #Fitspo.
However, Nikki wasn't always happy with her muscular body, but over time, she learned to accept her athletic figure. "I was going through puberty and was much curvier than other girls, which made me insecure," she told Shape magazine in 2017. "Then, I saw J.Lo on the cover of Latina magazine, and she embraced those curves and was proud of who she was." Ultimately, Nikki and Brie's athletic skills made them who they are today. "Believing in yourself and having confidence gives you outer strength," Nikki admitted.
So, what do the reality stars — who, as of this writing, are both pregnant — really eat in a day? We break down their healthy habits below.
Nikki and Brie Bella's diet is very simple and healthy
Nikki and Brie Bella's diet is simple: They stick to fruit, oatmeal, and eggs in the morning, and for lunch, they eat fish or chicken with some vegetables and brown rice, per Workout Info Guru. The pair noshes on fruit or sips a protein shake for a snack before they eat veggies, fish, or meat for dinner. However, the sisters made it clear that there are certain things they avoid. "I don't eat red meat," Nikki told Us Weekly in 2017. "And if I want carbs, I usually have them in the morning."
Meanwhile, Brie and her husband, Daniel Bryan, have been vegetarians "for years," as she told People in 2018. "For dinner, I'm always making something," Brie told Us Weekly. "Last night it was cauliflower wings!" Since Brie doesn't eat meat, she is "very into farm-to-table" and getting "everything from your local farmers," she told Who Say (via Sportskeeda). "I stay away from fried and processed food."
Nikki and Brie's motto is "everything in moderation" when it comes to their "healthy lifestyle," Brie told Muscle & Fitness magazine. "We never want to deprive ourselves, and we think that is the way to be in shape," she divulged. "We aren't big on diets. If you create a healthy lifestyle, then you aren't sacrificing anything."
Nikki and Brie Bella became less strict with food after they got pregnant
As of this writing, Nikki and Brie Bella are both pregnant — Nikki is expecting her first child with her fiancé, Artem Chigvintsev, while Brie is expecting her second child with her husband, Daniel Bryan. Since the Total Bellas stars are bumping along, they revealed their diet has changed just a tad ever since they found out they had buns in the oven. "I've let everything go," Nikki — who has also dabbled with intermittent fasting — told Women's Health in May 2020. "Everything is about listening to your body when you're pregnant, and your body really tells you what you lack."
Brie enjoys scrambled eggs and a side of avocado for breakfast, while Nikki sticks with coffee, two well-done scrambled eggs, and a piece of multigrain toast. Before lunch, the two usually snack on fruit or yogurt. For lunch, Brie eats her "most carb-heavy" meal — a tuna sandwich, pasta, or tofu — while Nikki munches on a sandwich. As for an afternoon snack? Nikki's go-to is celery with peanut butter or carrots with guacamole, while Brie makes a cucumber salad.
When it comes to dinner, Brie makes sure she has a vegetable with her meal and then adds in the protein. "We're lucky we have a big garden, so we have a lot of spinach, kale, and chard," Brie said. Nikki opts for "a protein and a vegetable for dinner every night," which she "eats around 5:30 or 6 p.m."
Nikki and Brie Bella aren't afraid to have cheat meals
Since Brie and Nikki Bella are known for having washboard abs and toned bodies, the million-dollar question is: Do the reality stars ever splurge when it comes to their diet? Surprisingly, the answer is yes!
Nikki and Brie have been treating themselves to some dessert after dinner during their pregnancies. Brie eats gelato — specifically caramel sea salt gelato — on the weekends since "it's something fun to look forward to," she told Women's Health in May 2020. Meanwhile, Nikki is "obsessed" with So Delicious Coconutmilk Ice Cream Sandwiches, and "think[s] about baked goods every day." The sisters do agree on one thing, though: They love their black licorice. "It has to be RJ's," Brie stated. "I won't get any other brand."
Before they found out they were pregnant, the twin sisters were on the same page when it came to managing their diet. "I do everything in moderation and count everything... that includes my wine," Nikki told Shape magazine in 2017. Brie shared similar thoughts. "I do allow myself cheat meals," she told Us Weekly in 2017. "When I've been good for four days, my husband and I are like, 'Let's share a pizza!'"
