Here's How Kaitlynn Carter's Dating Life Changed After Her Miley Split
The Hills: New Beginnings premiered on MTV in June 2019, and viewers got a glimpse into the lives of Audrina Patridge, Brody Jenner, and Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag. The reality show also focused on new "characters," such as Jenner's former wife, Kaitlynn Carter, who began her career as a lifestyle blogger. Carter became friendly with the other women while filming, but her problems with Jenner kept getting bigger and bigger throughout Season 1 — she wanted kids and he didn't, and they constantly fought, which ultimately led to their split in August 2019. But wait, that's not all: It turned out that Carter and Jenner were never legally married, TMZ reported.
Right after Jenner and Carter called it quits, the New Hampshire native vacationed with pop star Miley Cyrus and her family in Italy on August 9, 2019, and they uploaded several snaps on Instagram. At the time, there was no speculation the two were more than just friends, but on August 10, 2019, Cyrus and her husband, Liam Hemsworth, confirmed they were ending their marriage, per People. Hours later, photos of Cyrus and Carter kissing were posted on TMZ. From then on, Cyrus and Carter became a couple and were spotted looking loved up around California post-getaway, per Entertainment Tonight.
Carter's love life soon became the talk of the town, but by September 2019, the MTV star and Cyrus split, per People. So, how has Carter's life changed since dating an A-lister? Keep reading to find out the details.
Kaitlynn wants to keep her relationships 'super private'
After Kaitlynn Carter put her dating life on display in 2019 — she was married to Brody Jenner for five years and dated Miley Cyrus for a brief period — she wants to keep any future relationships out of the spotlight going forward. "What I've really realized is now with dating, I am super private about it," Carter told Nick Viall on his podcast, The Viall Files, in June 2020. "Since last fall, once that whole situation [with Cyrus] came to a wrap, I was like, 'That's the last time I'm doing a public thing," she added. "I just want it to be as private as it can be."
Even though Carter and the Hannah Montana alum were seen packing on the PDA in New York City and California in 2019, the blogger said the former flames "actually did work hard to keep [their relationship] as private as [they] could." She added, "It is what it is. It's so hard to go through a breakup in the public eye, too, you know. You're navigating things ... I think there is also a lot to be gained and learned from that and yeah, so now I am just super, super private."
Kaitlynn would like to try dating a woman again
Kaitlynn Carter went through a lot in 2019 — she starred in a reality show on MTV, got divorced from Brody Jenner, and dated a woman (a really famous woman for that matter, aka Miley Cyrus) for the first time. Now that Carter is open to starting a romance with both men and women, the social media influencer explained, "Whoever I want to date, is who I want to date," she told Nick Viall on his podcast, The Viall Files, in June 2020. "It's been kind of interesting to just find out who I am attracted to."
Despite being in a new relationship, the television personality is excited for what's to come in the future. "I do think it would be fun to explore that side of myself more because I think that a relationship with a woman is so different than a relationship with a man," she admitted. "It's just a very different dynamic, and I think it would be cool to have another experience — just to try it out again, but then again at the same time, whoever I meet is whoever I meet."
Ultimately, Carter is not putting pressure on herself when it comes to defining her sexuality. "If I meet a man first that I want to be with long-term, I am not going to put that off because I want to try dating a woman," she added.
Kaitlynn says she 'falls in love way too much'
Kaitlynn Carter knows she "falls in love way too much, way too fast," so she is "trying to calm down" in her relationships going forward, as she told Nick Viall on his podcast, The Viall Files, in June 2020. In fact, The Hills: New Beginnings star revealed she is attempting to implement her new rules into her new romance, even though they are not "boyfriend/girlfriend" quite yet. "With the person I have been seeing recently, I am trying to do that — take it really slow," Carter said. "And make sure that everything is actually really kind of in place before I am letting myself think like that."
Meanwhile, when she's not looking for love, Carter is focused on her podcast, The Bright Side, and filming Season 2 of The Hills: New Beginnings. On the latest season of the MTV series, Carter "just represents herself" since she is no longer with her ex-husband, Brody Jenner, which is something she is enjoying. "I am not responsible to anyone," she told Viall. "So, I am really embracing it and having so much more fun this time around, so I feel like my attitude about it has changed so drastically."
It seems like Carter is doing just fine, and who knows what the future may hold? As we all know, The Hills are always alive with drama.
