The Truth About Leonardo DiCaprio And Kate Winslet's Relationship
Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet starred in the 1997 hit movie Titanic, and their chemistry was quickly noticed by moviegoers. DiCaprio plays the poor artist Jack aboard the fancy ship, while Winslet plays Rose, a wealthy woman who is engaged to her fiancé, Cal. Despite being in a relationship, Rose begins to fall in love with Jack. Who could forget Jack and Rose's steamy sex scene in the car? Or when Jack makes Rose stand at the bow of the ship, where she yells, "I'm flying!" Two words: Simply iconic.
As much as viewers would love DiCaprio and Winslet to ride off into the sunset together, they'll just have to settle for their incredible friendship instead. DiCaprio has been dating model Camila Morrone since 2017, while Winslet married Edward Abel Smith in 2012. In fact, at Winslet's wedding to Smith in 2012, DiCaprio walked her down the aisle and gave her away, a source told Us Weekly.
"It is like family," Winslet told Good Morning America in 2017 about her bond with DiCaprio, who was also her co-star in Revolutionary Road. "It's one of those rare Hollywood friendships that I just feel very, very blessed to have."

Kate Winslet was nervous to work with Leonardo DiCaprio
Before Kate Winslet worked with Leonardo DiCaprio in the 1997 movie Titanic, she was nervous to act alongside the handsome hunk, and rightly so. "I was like probably how all the women in this audience are, about Leonardo DiCaprio," the actress told Oprah Winfrey in 1998 (via Harper's BAZAAR).
"Initially, I thought, 'Ugh, how am I gonna work with this beautiful man who's such a brilliant actor?'" she continued. "And I met him and he's honestly so lovely and down-to-earth and normal and so good at what he does."
In a 2004 interview with Winfrey, the television host played Winslet's confession for DiCaprio, in which he replied, "That's my girl." Luckily, it seems like Winslet was able to put her fears behind her, and the two became close pals. "I feel the same way about her," he gushed. "If it wasn't for her making that film, we would have been shrapnel at this point. It was just the toughest film we ever had to make and we were partners together."
To this day, Winslet will never forget how DiCaprio has impacted her life. "I walked away [from Titanic] with one of the greatest friendships of my life in my back pocket, which is Leo," she said in 2017, per Entertainment Weekly. "We know each other in a very unique way, I think, because of the experience we both had on that film and having to take care of one another."
Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet are each other's biggest fans
Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet are both talented actors in their own right, which is why they aren't afraid to praise one another's work in Hollywood. "In a lot of ways, Kate and I have really grown up in this industry together," DiCaprio said during a 2009 appearance on Oprah (via Elle). "We've been a support mechanism for each other for such a long period of time. We've been there for each other and helped guide each other."
After starring in Titanic in 1997, the pair reunited on-screen in the 2008 movie, Revolutionary Road. From there, their relationship continued to grow. "He's a stronger actor in this moment than he's ever been," the U.K. native told People in 2016.
"I think he's more handsome than he's ever been," she gushed. "And he feels, to me, the most settled he's ever felt, in himself, right now, which is quite strange, really, given that there's a lot happening around him."
In 2016, Winslet refused to boycott the Oscars — there was not a single Black actor nominated for the second year in a row — because she wanted to see DiCaprio take home the coveted trophy. "I feel very strongly that it may possibly be Leo's year," she told Vanity Fair, referring to DiCaprio's role in The Revenant. "[H]e is my closest friend in the world and I just couldn't imagine not being there to support him."
Kate Winslet reveals why she never dated Leonardo DiCaprio
Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet have had a one-of-a-kind bond for over two decades. The million-dollar question, though, is why haven't the Hollywood stars taken their friendship to the next level by becoming an item? "I think the reason that friendship works is because there was never any romantic thing," Winslet told Marie Claire U.K. in 2014 (via E! News).
"It's so disappointing for people to hear that, because in the soap opera of the Kate and Leo story we fell in love at first sight and had a million snogs, but we actually never did," The Holiday star dished. Unfortunately, DiCaprio saw Winslet "as one of the boys" since she has "never really been a girly-girl." Winslet added, "We needed each other to lean on because we were very young and working all kinds of crazy bloody hours and it was a shock to the system."
DiCaprio and Winslet might not be romantically involved when the cameras are off, but DiCaprio gushed about how their "chemistry naturally happened on screen" while filming Titanic. "We just like each other as people," he told Entertainment Tonight in 1997. "As far as doing a love scene, though, we laughed about it a lot."
However, DiCaprio raved about Winslet's kissing skills in an interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2004. "We did it more times than anyone could ever imagine," he revealed.

She's my homie."
