The Real Reason Adam Levine And Behati Prinsloo Got Back Together
The relationship between Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine and model Behati Prinsloo is arguably one of the most successful pairings in Hollywood, as the easygoing pair have created a beautiful life and family together. Their sweet unit includes two young daughters, Dusty Rose and Gio Grace.
Ever since the two tied the knot in 2014, they've gushed nonstop about each other on social media and in interviews, especially where it concerns their mutual admiration for one another as parents. But let's rewind a bit and revisit how the lovebirds first met, which happened in 2012 when a mutual pal suggested Prinsloo star in a music video for Maroon 5, Bustle noted. Although the Victoria's Secret runway star didn't take the gig, she and Levine had a long email correspondence before finally connecting in real life.
"I went to LA for a job, and that was the first time we met in person," she recalled in a 2019 interview with Net-a-Porter. "I remember walking in: I opened the door, and it was the classic moment where the light shines into the dark studio and everyone turned to look at me. He had boxing gloves on and he came to hug me – it was so awkward." She added, "Then he took me for dinner and we talked for hours and had the best time."
In that same interview, however, Prinsloo noted how the two broke up for a spell before getting hitched. We reveal how they got back together below.
Adam Levine dated another model after his split from Behati Prinsloo
As we noted above, Behati Prinsloo and Adam Levine began dating in 2012. The couple's first public appearance was in October of that year at the GQ Gentlemen's Ball, and things seemed to be going quite well for the pair. So when Levine struck up a romance with model Nina Agdal (pictured above right) in "early spring" of 2013, as Us Weekly reported, many fans were left scratching their heads. Agdal and Levine eventually split in May 2013, and by July 2013, the former Voice coach was engaged to Prinsloo. Talk about a whirlwind of events!
Prinsloo didn't explain why the split happened in her conversation with Net-a-Porter, although she did reveal what motivated their reunion. "We broke up for two months, realized that it was the worst decision, then got back together, got engaged and got married," she explained. "It was a wild ride!"
As for Agdal's take on the situation? She told Ocean Drive (via E! News) in November 2013, "I am 21 years old, and I don't think anyone who is 21 knows what love is about yet. I think love just happens. It happened to them and I'm happy for them. I am not even worried about anything like that." Yep, this is a classic case of all's well that ends well.
Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo formed their own little family — but don't plan to expand it anytime soon
Now, Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo are happily married and the proud parents of 3-year-old daughter Dusty and 2-year-old daughter Gio. Their family is so darn cute that fans are hoping Prinsloo has another kid. For example, in March 2020, per Entertainment Tonight, Prinsloo had to shut down pregnancy rumors on Instagram, all because she posted a picture that vaguely looked like an ultrasound. She said matter of factly, "Guys. This is not an ultrasound lol. Dusty got hold of my phone and somehow posted this picture from my photo library i thought it was weird and cool and left it up. But everyone is now congratulating me on my 3rd pregnancy it's a close up of my black and white splatter sweat pants!"
Fans shouldn't expect another baby anytime soon, either. According to ET, Levine told Howard Stern on his radio show that Prinsloo is not looking to expand their family anytime soon. Levine said, "No, she's not currently pregnant. I think if I asked her to have another baby right now she'd punch me in the f**king face, because she's not ready." He added, "We're good. We've got two kids." So that's that on that.
Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo are now living happily ever after
It's a good thing that Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo came to their senses and got back together after their breakup because they really do have the nicest little family life. When Levine left The Voice in 2019, Prinsloo was thrilled that she would get to have more time with her husband. Levine had reportedly been thinking about leaving for a few years, according to a source for Entertainment Tonight. "He's outgrown the show. He was over it," the source reportedly said, adding that he was burnt out.
Which is precisely why Prinsloo was so excited to have him home for once. She told Entertainment Tonight of the exit at the time, "Good news for me. He's on tour at the moment and he's excited to get home and, for the first time, have nothing to do." So while Levine's corny jokes and jabs at Blake Shelton are surely missed, his wife and two kids are happy to have him around more. Although the beginning of their relationship was a bit of a roller coaster ride into marriage, Levine and Prinsloo seem to have everything figured out these days.
