Where Does Simon Helberg Live And How Big Is His House?
When The Big Bang Theory ended in May 2019, the stars of the popular show were left with plenty of time on their hands to either explore new career-related opportunities in the industry or to simply sit back and enjoy the money that they earned throughout the comedy's incredibly successful run. If (or when) they do decide to ditch work and retire, each member of the main cast will be able to kick back and enjoy the fruits of their labor in unsurprisingly stunning homes.
Kaley Cuoco, who you might remember as TBBT's Penny, lives in a gorgeous San Fernando Valley mansion with her husband, Karl Cook, while Johnny Galecki, a.k.a. Leonard Hofstadter, resides in a Hollywood Hills home with his girlfriend, Alaina Meyer, and their son, Avery – a house that used to belong to Hobbs & Shaw star Jason Statham and his wife, model and actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.
As for Simon Helberg, the actor who played Howard Wolowitz — an aerospace engineer and sometimes astronaut — he has his own star-worthy home.
Simon Helberg bought Vince Vaughn's old house
Thanks to the fact that Simon Helberg earned a staggering amount of money while on The Big Bang Theory, he was able to pick up a pricey home for himself "[j]ust weeks after wrapping the final season," Architectural Digest reported in June 2019. "As one of the highest paid actors in television (he reportedly made $1 million per episode for season 12), the star ... spared no expense when purchasing the 4,000-square-foot home for nearly $6.9 million."
"Owned from 1999 to 2005 by Vince Vaughn," per Variety, the residence in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Los Feliz spans 4,033 square feet, to be exact, and includes five bedrooms as well as five-and-a-half bathrooms and a guesthouse.
A 1930s Spanish Colonial that's been restored, AD notes that the "abode is enchanting from the moment one enters the carved-wood front door." With a "two-level foyer which leads into a large, light-filled living room" that boasts a "simple fireplace, vintage wrought-iron chandelier, and exposed dark wood beams," those in the house will find "similar decor accents" in the dining room. In the kitchen, those preparing a snack can enjoy the "green Shaker-style cabinets and chef-worthy appliances."
Then, there's the master bedroom, which includes a "balcony overlooking the backyard," which is part of the half-acre property and features a "two-car garage and poolside guesthouse," which are surely great to have available if any of Helberg's TBBT pals stop by for a visit.
The former 'Big Bang' star also owns a horse farm (or an 'equestrian estate')
Fans of Kaley Cuoco will know that she adores horses, however, it turns out that Simon Helberg is also a fan of the majestic creatures. In fact, the actor dropped almost $5.15 million in 2017 for his "horse farm," according to Variety.
Sitting on a "slightly more than 6.5-acre spread" Helberg's property is "about 90 miles northwest of L.A.in the low-key but exceedingly high-cost coastal community of Carpinteria." The property offers "two large motor courts, a detached three-car garage with an attached office and a half bathroom, vast lawns and manicured gardens, a swimming pool and spa, and equestrian facilities that include fenced pastures and a horse barn."
When Helberg isn't outside taking in the picturesque landscape and riding around on his horses, he can spend time inside the home that spans over 5,000 square feet. Featuring four bedrooms and four-and-a-half bathrooms, the 1916 Spanish colonial revival — yes, he obviously loves homes in this style — features walnut floors, limestone fireplaces, a "curved staircase [that] leads up to the second floor," and a private terrace off of the master bedroom that gives Helberg an "over-the-treetops ocean view."
Beyond that, there's a "chef-accommodating kitchen ... a mirror-walled fitness room, a stone-floored wine cellar, and a media lounge with an outside entrance and an integrated surround-sound system."
All of these snazzy perks are perhaps why Variety not only referred to it as a horse farm, but also an "equestrian estate."
Simon Helberg's former home belonged to Charlie Sheen
Before Simon Helberg bought his horse farm and Vince Vaughn's former home, he used to live in a different Los Felize abode that was owned by another Hollywood star. "Fresh off of listing his quaint Craftsman-style cottage, actor Simon Helberg has upgraded his living accommodations in a big way with the purchase of Hollywood bad boy Charlie Sheen's Mediterranean mini-mansion," Realtor.com reported in 2011. Sheen bought the home in 2007 with his then-wife and now-ex, Brooke Mueller, for $2.575 million before putting it up for sale in 2009 and finally selling it to Helberg in 2011 for $2.9 million.
Built in 1927 and covering "just under 4,200-square-feet," the space includes "a restored interior with Bouquet Canyon stone flooring, capacious living room with trestle-style vaulted ceilings, formal dining room, and a generous master suite." Outside, the home "blends elements of Mediterranean and Southwestern design with an ocotillo-tiled courtyard and walkways that lead to an oversized backyard and pool."
Although Helberg has upgraded in the years since picking up this home, it's clear he knows how to track down dreamy (even envy-sparking) properties in the L.A. area.
