The Truth About Demi Burnett And Slater Davis' Relationship
Demi Burnett, a Texas native, first appeared on Colton Underwood's season of The Bachelor. Although Demi didn't win Underwood's heart (that honor went to Cassie Randolph), she did get a second shot at romance during Season 6 of Bachelor in Paradise. The upbeat and quirky reality star initially connected with The Bachelorette Season 12 star Derek Peth, but they broke up when her ex-girlfriend, Kristian Haggerty, showed up at the beach. Yep, Demi is queer and had dated Haggerty before starring on the spin-off.
The two got engaged during filming in June 2019 but split just a few months later in October 2019. "I wasn't in it, and she was so in it," Demi explained while on the Almost Famous podcast. "She was so good to me and that would make me feel guilty 'cause I was like, 'I'm not feeling the same anymore and I feel bad that I don't feel the same anymore because I made a commitment to you.'"
Demi might not have had that "it" factor with Haggerty, but she has seemingly found a spark with musician Slater Davis. The two began dating in February 2020, and they've been inseparable ever since. But is the relationship as perfect as it seems? Here's the truth about Demi and Davis' partnership.
Demi Burnett and Slater Davis had a rough patch
Shortly after Slater Davis and Demi Burnett got together in February 2020, the coronavirus pandemic hit, with the two deciding to quarantine together. "We've fought a lot during this, because we'd only been together, like, a month before the quarantine happened," Demi said during a May 2020 episode of her Big Demi Energy podcast.
Making matters even more complicated? Some of Davis' family members were living with the couple, and Demi didn't always get along with everyone. "They were all talking about me and talking about the situation," the reality star recalled about one fight. "So then I got back and I was, like, well I feel really awkward because I know you've all been talking about me and some of you are irritated with me, obviously taking his side and stuff."
Burnett has since asked Davis not to involve family members in their drama, which has helped the situation. "It's been nice getting to spend so much time together and getting to know each other so much better," she told People about their improved dynamic. "We're getting to learn how each other lives and how to work through whenever we are getting on each other's nerves, and be better at that." Demi added, "I definitely think our relationship is stronger than ever."
