Halsey's Relationships Keep Getting Weirder And Weirder
Ashley Nicolette Frangipane, professionally known as Halsey, has had a very successful musical career, ever since releasing her first EP, Room 93, in 2014. After one EP and three studio albums, the "Graveyard" singer secured more than 10 music awards, including a Teen Choice Award for the Choice Summer Female Artist, an American Music Award for Favorite Pop/Rock Song for "Without Me," and the Hal David Starlight Award from the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Halsey's award-winning music is only one layer of the popular singer. She's also known for her heavy involvement in activism for sexual assault victims; police brutality; reproductive rights (appearing and speaking at the 2017 and 2018 Women's March); LGBTQIA+ rights, as Halsey publicly identified herself as bisexual, according to Insider; and many more.
However, many fans have been in deep discussions of Halsey's past relationship — and rumored breakup — with actor Evan Peters, which sparked even more conversations about her list of celebrity exes.
Halsey's celeb relationships began with Matty Healy from The 1975
Once upon a time, the 25-year-old singer-songwriter Halsey was public about her romantic relationships. Halsey was first connected to The 1975 frontman Matty Healy in 2015, after she released her debut EP. According to 95-106 Capital FM, the project was named after a hotel room the two shared a night in. The song "Colors" is suspected to be about Healy as well.
Later that same year, she began dating Norwegian producer Lido. In an interview with Billboard, she touched on the breakup with Healy briefly, saying, "When we met, I was nobody; things changed very quickly. A lot of people in my life freaked out. I didn't have the chance to say, 'I'm sorry, let me explain.' It was kind of like, 'If you can't keep up, f**k you. I have to keep going.'" Yikes. Also that year, she was connected to actress and model Ruby Rose following Rose's public separation from fiancée Phoebe Dahl, per Livingly.
Through 2016, Halsey was rumored to be dating multiple big names, including Jared Leto, Andrew Taggart from The Chainsmokers, and Twenty One Pilots drummer Josh Dun — however all of those romantic connections were denied or reduced to innocent friendships.
Halsey's relationships with Machine Gun Kelly and G-Eazy were complicated
Halsey and rapper Machine Gun Kelly first met in 2016 on the set of Showtime's Roadies and began dating soon after. The two only dated for a year or so until Halsey publicly began dating G-Eazy. It's not clear if there was an overlap between the two men. However, when the news broke, Halsey called MGK "pathetic" after he did an interview with The Breakfast Club and boasted about his sex life with the singer, according to NME.
Halsey's relationship with G-Eazy through 2017 and 2018 was a bit of a rollercoaster. The two began nice enough, but after a few months Halsey deleted every picture of G-Eazy on her Instagram. In July 2018, she made an official "Instagram statement" announcing the breakup via her Instagram Story. They eventually made up, and then officially called it quits for the last time in October of that year.
It was never clear why the two separated; however, in 2020 after G-Eazy was connected to rapper Megan Thee Stallion, Halsey alluded to her own relationship with him being "abusive," according to Insider.
After the major G-Eazy split, Halsey was on to the next by December 2018. She was spotted with, and later officially began dating, British singer and songwriter Yungblud in January 2019 after a true millennial beginning: She slid into his Instagram DMs.
Halsey may be in a love triangle with Evan Peters and Yungblud
According to Teen Vogue, the two singers did a radio interview in February 2019 promoting their song "11 Minutes" featuring Travis Barker. Yungblud explained, "She sent me her number on an Instagram DM," to which Halsey added, "That's it!"
The couple had a few months under their belts, but by September, the "Without Me" singer was already linked to actor Evan Peters. Us Weekly reported the two had already been dating for several weeks when they were spotted holding hands at Six Flags Magic Mountain Park in Los Angeles.
It's unknown if the two are currently broken up, but the internet could make a strong case for the separation and Halsey potentially being back with ex-beau Yungblud. According to People, Halsey removed all pictures of Peters from her Instagram. There's also the evidence of her posting a "#YorkshireCertified" dinner to her Instagram Story, to which Yungblud reposted to his Instagram with a "can confirm" caption.
All three sides of this love triangle have been in the news lately for a reason beyond their romantic lives: While Halsey protested in LA with supposed ex Yungblud to take a stand against the murder of George Floyd, Peters was heavily criticized by Twitter for sharing an insensitive video of police officers tackling protesters.
No one knows for sure what's happening with Halsey's complicated love life, but it seems she's not too worried about it and has bigger things on her mind.
