The Truth About Giada De Laurentiis And Shane Farley's Relationship
Giada De Laurentiis is one of the most beloved Food Network hosts thanks to her Italian dishes, megawatt smile, and bubbly personality. (We're also obsessed with her pronunciation of "pasta"). It's easy to see how anyone can fall in love with her, because what's not to love? This is especially true for her boyfriend, Shane Farley.
The two started dating in 2015, intertwined in a committed relationship so sweet De Laurentiis probably topped it off with sugar and an actual *chef's kiss*. While De Laurentiis and Farley initially met in 2013, per People, they didn't get together until a year after De Laurentiis and ex-husband Todd Thompson got divorced. After the split, De Laurentiis told People that she took some time off from dating to get reacquainted with herself as a single woman and a single mom.
"I had been with [daughter] Jade's dad for 25 years. I didn't know what it meant to not be married," she revealed to the magazine. "Once I got settled, [Shane and I] reconnected and I felt like a kid again."
Giada De Laurentiis and Shane Farley worked on a TV show together ... kinda
So how did the lovebirds meet in the first place? According to People, in 2013 "Farley was hired to produce a talk show with De Laurentiis and her close friend Bobby Flay." However, the project fizzled out and never ended up making it on air. That being said, De Laurentiis made quite the first impression. Recalling what he first thought of the celebrity chef, Farley told People that he found De Laurentiis to be "really smart and funny." In fact, after they first crossed passed Farley though to himself: "God, she would be a great host for a show."
Even though the talk show didn't end up panning out, De Laurentiis and Farley kept in touch and would meet up occasionally."We would bump into each other, we would grab a drink," Farley revealed to People. "We were just friends and then eventually we started dating."
Three years into their relationship, Farley couldn't help but gush about his leading lady, telling People, "Giada is one of the most positive people I have ever met," he said. "She is warm and absolutely beautiful — what you see on the outside is there on the inside as well." Awwwww.
Shane Farley is close with Giada De Laurentiis' daughter, Jade
Giada De Laurentiis and ex-husband Todd Thompson share a daughter named Jade, who is frequently featured on the chef's Instagram and mentioned on De Laurentiis' Food Network show, Giada at Home.
In a heartwarming interview with People, Shane Farley opened up about his own relationship with De Laurentiis' daughter, while making it clear that he has the utmost respect for both of her parents."Jade has got two amazing parents, so I can be a part of her life without any pressure," he explained. "I really enjoy hanging out with her."
Calling her "well-adjusted" and "fun," Farley — who doesn't have any children of his own — couldn't stop gushing about Jade to the magazine. "She's just a great child," he said. "She's smart. She's funny. She's adorable."
The TV producer also revealed that Jade — who is a fan of Steve Harvey (Farley was an executive producer on his talk show) — innundates him with questions about the host and the show. " ... [S]he often asks me, 'Who is on the show? What did Steve say that day?' And sometimes I'll come over and she's watching the show from that day," he recalled, referring to those moments as "cool."
Shane Farley plans special meals for Giada De Laurentiis
While we can only imagine just how intimidating it must be to cook for a renowned chef like Giada De Laurentiis, the chef's boyfriend, Shane Farley, does take the lead on some holidays, giving the star some well-deserved time out of the kitchen. "He cooks on special occasions [like] Mother's Day, Valentine's Day, etc.," the celebrity chef told TODAY Food in February 2020, just before the romantic holiday. "I think for V-Day, he'll make me one of his fave dishes: chicken piccata over pasta."
While De Laurentiis doesn't mind giving Farley an opportunity to shine in the kitchen, she told TODAY that she can't help but give her beau some tips. "I always make sure he seasons the meat before cooking it," she divulged, adding "and as for pasta, I always make sure he seasons the pasta water with salt before adding the pasta. Simple tips, but important."
Considering the fact that De Laurentiis knows a thing or two about cooking, we're sure Farley is open to learning from the master.
