The Tragic Death Of Annie LeBlanc's Brother
If you don't know Annie LeBlanc, then get familiar with her now, since she is one of the "most famous teens in the world," according to Business Insider. The internet personality burst onto the scene as a singer, actress, and former gymnast. LeBlanc also dated Disney star Asher Angel — the two were beloved by their fans — for about a year, but called it quits in May 2020.
"This is just a normal teenage breakup, and it happens all the time. No one did anything wrong," LeBlanc explained during an Instagram Live (via J-14 Magazine). "I'm not going to give you guys all the information, and I wish I could, but I'm not going to get into it because I don't like bringing things to the internet."
Despite her career taking off — as of this writing, LeBlanc has more than eight million followers on Instagram and almost four million followers on YouTube — she endured an unthinkable tragedy in 2015: the death of her younger brother, Caleb Logan LeBlanc, who was also a YouTuber. Caleb LeBlanc's death was sudden
In October 2015, Annie LeBlanc's brother, Caleb Logan LeBlanc, suddenly passed away at just 13 years old in their Maryland home due to an undetected heart condition, People reported. One month after his untimely death, Caleb's parents, Katie and Billy LeBlanc, took to Instagram to explain what had happened to their late son.
"The doctor confirmed today that Caleb had passed away from a heart condition called Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy that went undetected in his yearly checkups," Katie wrote at the time. "Caleb didn't have any symptoms so the doctor said there was nothing we could have done differently."
Katie — who also has another daughter, Hayley — noted that "[t]he girls' hearts were just recently checked and thankfully look the way they should right now."
Even though Katie lost her first born child, she was touched by all of the nice messages she received. "The sadness of losing someone you love is unimaginable," she concluded. "Thank you to everyone who has reached out, your kindness and support continues to help our family. We miss our baked potato everyday. #calebratelife #celebratelife."
How Annie LeBlanc honors her late brother
Clearly, Annie LeBlanc still thinks about her older brother, Caleb Logan LeBlanc, to this day. In fact, the Chicken Girls star frequently uploads photos of her late sibling to Instagram to honor him on his birthday or National Brother's Day. "You will never be forgotten because you were the sweetest, kindest, funniest person," she wrote two years after his death. "You never failed to put a smile on everyone's face. I know that you are in a better place..."
Annie is known to be an open book on her YouTube channel, but she rarely speaks about her brother in her videos. However, in 2018, she got candid with her fans about what she misses about him. "His smile or, like, his laugh because literally it lit up a whole entire room," she recalled in a YouTube video.
Unfortunately, Caleb won't get to see his little sister in the spotlight, but she knows that he is there with her in spirit every step of the way. "I remember when you would call me downstairs to record a song that you wrote, and now I'm living that out with you still in my heart," she wrote in her Instagram post.
Annie LeBlanc gives Caleb LeBlanc credit for her career
The LeBlanc family started becoming famous on YouTube when they shared what their household was like. From competing in Olympic games to documenting the kids' first day of school, there was never a dull moment.
Now, Annie LeBlanc is a YouTube star — among other things — and she revealed that if it wasn't for her brother, Caleb Logan LeBlanc, she might not be where she is today. "My mind still can't get over the fact that he's gone," she said in 2018, per Girls Life Magazine. "I never thought I would get here, recording music and making music videos. It's all thanks to him for inspiring me and believing in me. I honor him by trying to celebrate life every day."
Annie revealed singing and dancing were just hobbies when she was younger, but advises her fans that if they "love" something, they should "keep doing it," she told YSBNow. "Make sure that if you keep going that you still love it."
While Caleb can't be here today, one thing is for sure — he would be so proud of Annie.
