Netflix Star Hana Kimura Dead At 22
In a heartbreaking end to one rising star's story, Hana Kimura's name was added to the list of celebrities we've lost in 2020. Additionally, she also became one of the many famous figures who passed away before they turned 30 when she died in May 2020 at the age of 22. The death of the Japanese professional wrestler, who also appeared on Netflix's Terrace House, was confirmed on May 22, 2020, according to the New York Post.
Stardom Wrestling, which promotes professional women's wrestling in Japan, announced Kimura's passing, per TMZ, saying, "We are very sorry to report that our Hana Kimura has passed away." The organization's statement continued, "Please be respectful and allow some time for things to process, and keep your thoughts and prayers with her family and friends. We appreciate your support during this difficult time."
While the Post noted that Stardom Wrestling "didn't give a cause of death," Kimura had sparked concern prior to her death due to a pair of worrisome social media posts.
Hana Himura shared concerning messages before her death
Prior to Hana Kimura's death, the last social media posts shared by the Netflix star and wrestling figure seemed to indicate that there was something seriously wrong going on behind the scenes. On the day that the star's death was confirmed, the New York Post reported that just days earlier she had taken to Twitter to write, "I don't want to be a human anymore. It was a life I wanted to be loved. Thank you everyone, I love you. Bye." She also sent out a photo of herself and her cat on Instagram along with a short message that simply read: "goodbye."
The star's messages sparked concern due to their nature, especially considering the fact that — like Star Wars actress Kelly Marie Tran, former Bachelor Colton Underwood, and so many more — Himura had opened up about the harassment she had apparently faced online when she "issued a series of troubling social media posts implying she had been cyber-bullied," according to the BBC. These circumstances have led some to believe that Kimura may have taken her own life.
Whatever the cause of the star's death, our thoughts are with her loved ones during this difficult time.
