The Real Reason Larsa And Scottie Pippen Split
Despite calling it quits in 2018, Scottie Pippen and Larsa Pippen have been all over the news lately — Scottie is featured in the Chicago Bulls documentary, The Last Dance, on ESPN, while Larsa is known for her steamy bikini posts on Instagram and being close with the Kardashian family.
The former flames — who share four children — got married in 1997, but things haven't always been great between the pair. The couple initially announced plans to divorce in 2016, but a year later, Larsa and Scottie were spotted having a fancy date night in Hollywood, and she appeared to be showing off a new diamond ring, per TMZ. That reconciliation apparently didn't last long. In 2018, Larsa filed for divorce, citing "irreconcilable differences."
So, what caused the couple to finally call it quits after so many years together? Keep scrolling to find out the real reason they split.
Larsa Pippen says she did 'everything' for Scottie Pippen
On May 14, 2020, Larsa Pippen blasted a troll who blamed her for divorcing the basketball star. "Find someone who'll put you first!!" she captioned a photo of herself on Instagram.
"Too bad you didn't put Scottie Pippen first," the hater replied, implying she was the reason for the couple parting ways. The reality star wasn't having it. "I did everything for him — literally everything," she responded, per People.
Another person commented on the rumors about her straying from Scottie, writing, "Bro, he was loyal to you, no? Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't you do adultery first?" Larsa replied, "Stop tripping dude u don't know what you're talking about. I held him down and still do. Just bc I don't air his dirty laundry doesn't mean it doesn't stink. I just don't wanna do his laundry anymore."
Well, it sure sounds like there may be some lingering tension between these two.
Larsa Pippen said 'cheating wasn't the problem'
Despite reports that Larsa Pippen cheated on Scottie Pippen, she made it clear that some relationships just aren't meant to be. "I was married for 20 years, I did everything for him and my family. People change and that's what really happened. Most people can't even imagine being in a relationship a week so I know it's beyond imagination," she wrote in a since-deleted tweet on April 20, 2020, per Hollywood Life. "Cheating wasn't the problem," she said.
That wasn't the first time Larsa spoke out about the hurtful allegations. In 2018, she defended herself, writing, "I'll take a beating publicly ppl saying I cheated when believe me it wasn't like that," she said on Instagram, per Hollywood Life. Larsa added that she doesn't "care about money" since she has "had it my whole life." What money can't buy is quality time, and Larsa suggested that was lacking in their marriage. The basketball star's wife said she spent her birthday and holidays by herself. "At some point, I decided I have to live my truth and here I am," she said.
Where do Larsa Pippen and Scottie Pippen stand today?
The second episode of ESPN's The Last Dance focused on Scottie Pippen's life. Despite being a successful basketball player, the documentary indicated that Scottie was underpaid compared to his other Chicago Bulls teammates, including Michael Jordan and Dennis Rodman.
Larsa Pippen was clearly tuning in for the series too because she weighed in on Scottie's finances by sharing a screenshot that claimed he earned $109,192,430 during his career and even made $20 million more than Jordan. "Thx for your concern Scottie did ok #TheLastDance," she captioned the image on Twitter.
It's unclear where these two stand today. Larsa's Instagram page is peppered with pictures of her fit physique and photos of her and Scottie's children (Preston, Justin, Scotty, and Sophia) but he's essentially absent from her social media images. Their daughter, Sophia, has shared posts with both her parents while practicing social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic, so at least co-parenting appears to be going well.
Larsa Pippen and Scottie Pippen's relationship was full of ups and downs
Although Scottie Pippen and Larsa Pippen were married for almost 20 years, their relationship was full of ups and downs — to say the least. In October 2016, the Chicago Bulls alum filed for divorce — just two days after recordings leaked, where Larsa called 911 and claimed her husband was being verbally abusive at their Florida home, TMZ reported.
"Can you send someone over here? My husband's being really aggressive with me," Larsa said in one recording, per TMZ. In another, she said, "My husband's gotten crazy again with me."
However, Scottie's attorney, Roberta G. Stanley, sort of cleared the air as to what happened between the duo when she told People, "Mr. Pippen is aware that some members of the press have obtained 911 recordings recently made by Ms. Pippen. While these recordings speak for themselves, Ms. Pippen did not make any allegations of physical violence by Mr. Pippen."
After Larsa and Scottie separated, rumors circulated that Larsa was dating rapper Future — perhaps one of the reasons Scottie and Larsa fought in the first place — but sources told Us Weekly nothing happened and they were "friends." The insider explained Larsa was "focused and dedicated to her children" at the time.
Larsa and Scottie reconciled in 2017 and tried "working on their relationship," a source told People, but ultimately, they split for good in 2018. At the time of this writing, their divorce has not yet been finalized.
