What Thomas Ravenel Has Been Up To Since Leaving Southern Charm
Southern Charm alum Thomas Ravenel was best known for stirring up controversy during his five seasons on the show, which included a failed bid for senate, a tumultuous relationship with Kathryn Dennis, and explosive fights with his then co-stars. No matter what fans might have thought about Ravenel's antics, many agreed his life made for entertaining TV. But Ravenel's reign of non-stop drama came to an abrupt halt in September 2018, when he was fired (or quit, if you believe his account) from the show following his arrest for assault and battery in the second degree. The arrest came months after the South Carolina native was accused in May 2018 of sexual assault by his former nanny, Dawn Ledwell, according to People.
One month earlier in April 2018, Thomas was accused of assaulting another woman he had met on the dating app Tinder in 2015. The woman's daughter, Ashley Perkins, brought the claims to light in a blog post, in which she referred to Thomas as an "animal." The ex-politician settled with Perkins' mom for $200,000 and had her sign a non-disclosure agreement, as Perkins alleged to Us Weekly.
As for Ledwell's case, Thomas pled guilty in September 2019 to third-degree assault and battery and was ordered to pay a $500 fine, according to People.
Now that Thomas' legal issues have seemingly been resolved, let's take a look at what his life has been like post-Southern Charm.
Is Thomas Ravenel expecting another child?
Thomas Ravenel co-parents his two kids, Kensie and Saint Ravenel, with ex-girlfriend Kathryn Dennis. Although the exes had engaged in a custody battle for months, they reached a peaceful conclusion in November 2019, with both parties agreeing to share joint physical and legal custody of the kids, People reported. The modern family celebrated Christmas 2019 together, and Thomas attended a party with Kathryn in January 2020.
However, just when fans thought these two had found a parenting groove, it was reported in March 2020 that Thomas is allegedly expecting a child with his on-again, off-again girlfriend, Heather Moscoe, the Daily Mail reported. Moscoe has two children of her own and is a registered nurse, per the outlet.
"Thomas is doing everything he can to keep a lid on this," the insider claimed. "He's told Heather not to go out and even people who know are afraid to say anything because Thomas is so aggressive when he is crossed." They added, "Kathryn knows, she was told by her attorney."
We're not sure whether this report is true, although we do know Thomas won't appear on Southern Charm anytime soon. He confirmed this when responding to a fan's tweet, joking about the unlikelihood, "Did a donkey win the Kentucky Derby? That was my condition stated here on Twitter..."
For now, it appears Thomas is enjoying quality time with Kensie and Saint and leaning into off-camera life.
Thomas Ravenel stood up for Kathryn Dennis
Kathryn Dennis caught heat from fans in May 2020, when she sent a racially insensitive emoji to black activist and radio show host Tamika Gadsden. The incident occurred after Gadsden slammed Kathryn's friend, nail salon owner Katie Shields, for organizing a boat parade in Charleston to support President Donald Trump. "In Charleston you learn, fairly quickly, that the face of the White Supremacy resembles that of the boutique-owning, gatekeeping glitterati," she wrote. "Katie is reprehensible."
In response, Kathryn messaged Gadsden 28 times on Instagram, which included sending her a monkey emoji, BuzzFeed News reported. "Are you unaware of your absolutely sociopathic behavior," the reality star wrote to Gadsden after the activist shared her support for another female business owner who had cut ties with Shields, per BuzzFeed. "I can't help but continue messaging you in hopes that you will get it. Ur legit what's wrong with our city." She added, "Stop using Charleston and ur minority claim as a platform to harass people."
Kathryn later apologized for the emoji, tweeting in part, "Although the context was not my intention, there are no 'if ands or buts' that excuse me."
Thomas also came to her defense, writing in a since-deleted tweet (via Reality Blurb), "Say what you will about @KathrynDennis, she is not a racist. Some of her good friends are people of color and I've never, ever heard a racial slur come out of her mouth ... This is a very unfortunate mistake."
