The Real Reason Bear From Alaskan Bush People Took A Paternity Test
So why is Bear Brown howling from the top of a mountain? Well, the reality star from the Discovery Channel's Alaskan Bush People received some very exciting news about his son and had to share it. Bear just got the results of a DNA test, confirming that he is the father of River, whom he shares with his ex, Raiven Adams.
According to In Touch, Bear shared the news and let out a howl on Instagram, saying: "Hey everybody, I've got some awesome news I'd love to share with you all! It is 100 percent official River is my son — I got the results in today. It is awesome news, there was never any doubt, but in order for me to further get equal rights to parent, that is one thing I had to prove, that I am actually his dad. And I am!"
"Gotta give a howl!" And he finished it off by yelling: "YEAH!"
We're so excited for the proud Papa Bear! But Bear still hasn't been able to meet his son, River, even though his boy was born in March. Keep reading to find out why.
Bear Brown hasn't met his son yet
Bear Brown, of Alaskan Bush People, has been vocal about his journey in becoming River's official father. On March 12, according to In Touch, Bear filed all of the paperwork to begin the DNA testing, but he was careful to explain why he was doing this: "I am not trying to un-establish myself as River's dad, I am trying to establish myself AS his dad so that I will have equal rights as a parent!"
According to The Blast, papa Bear hasn't met his son yet but hopefully that will all change, now that the DNA tests have verified Bear's paternity. River was born on March 9, 2020, but was born premature, so Raiven Adams, River's mother, stayed with him in an Alaskan NICU. In fact, the hospital ended up allowing Raiven to move in because it was safer to have her remain in one place with the coronavirus spreading.
Raiven and Bear have had their ups and downs. Raiven came forward in February 2020 with allegations of domestic abuse and obtained a short-term order of protection, according to In Touch. However, Bear said the accusations were false and the order of protection has been dismissed.
Hopefully things will work out smoothly between the two. According to In Touch, after they split up, Raiven spoke about how committed she was to co-parenting with Bear: "We are excited to coparent as friends and do our best to be the best we can be."
