The Untold Truth Of Lil Wayne's Daughter
When rapper Lil Wayne was 16, he became a father to Reginae Carter. At the time, the "Lollipop" singer was dating Reginae's mom, Toya Johnson, known today as Toya Wright. Although Reginae will always be associated with her famous father, her own hustle is going strong as a reality TV personality and Instagram influencer. As of this writing, she is a cast member on the VH1 reality show T.I. & Tiny: Family Hustle, along with her mom. That's not her first reality TV appearance though. In 2014, Carter planned her 16th birthday party during an episode of MTV's My Super Sweet 16. Reginae and her mom also appeared on the show, Growing Up Hip Hop: Atlanta, from 2017 to 2018.
During an episode of Family Hustle in 2018, Reginae struggled with her decision to drop out of Clark Atlanta University, openly telling her mom that she wanted to spend more time with her boyfriend, rapper YFN Lucci, a move that resulted in some backlash from the viewers, per BET. Aside from her desire to accompany her man, Reginae also used that time to act in the Lifetime movie Pride & Prejudice: Atlanta which aired in 2019. Unfortunately for Reginae, her relationship did not last, but there was a silver lining to the situation. Aside from the reality TV storyline, the split brought Reginae and her father closer together, leaning on him for some post-breakup advice, per Complex.
So what's next for Reginae Carter?
Lil Wayne's daughter is making moves
On April 11, 2020, Reginae Carter told her 5 million followers on Instagram that she has a YouTube channel. There was a catch, though. She refused to drop the first video until 10,000 people subscribed.
Spoiler alert: As of this writing, she has already exceeded her original goal, and her channel has 18,000 subscribers. She dropped her first video on April 13, 2020, which had a little bit of everything, including some TikTok footage.
Aside from sharing her life on YouTube, social media, and reality TV, Reginae has revealed her singing talents. In 2013, Billboard reported that she was signed as an artist on her dad Lil Wayne's record label, Young Money. In 2018, she appeared on the song "Famous" from her dad's most recent album, Tha Carter V.
There are some people who have famous parents that get through life, living off of that success. Then there are other people who grew up in the spotlight that have rebelled to form their own public identity. It appears Carter has embraced her parents' connections and exposure to become a success in her own right, on her own terms.
