What's Really Going On With Denise Richards And Brandi Glanville?
Real Housewives of Beverly Hills fans are in for a real treat of a season, if the teaser for Season 10 is any indication. While the April 15, 2020 premiere was mainly a snooze-fest centered on Kyle Richards' fashion show, upcoming off-screen drama between former Housewife Brandi Glanville and Denise Richards was teased in the final minutes of the episode. And it was, quite frankly, the stuff reality TV fans live for. Someone get these Bravo editors an Emmy already.
While details of what exactly went down between Brandi and Denise are still scarce, the final premiere scene and the trailer for Season 10 show Denise being confronted by the likes of fellow castmates Lisa Rinna, Kyle Richards, Erika Jayne, and Dorit Kemsley (new cast member Garcelle Beauvais and Denise remain friends) for reportedly cheating on her husband Aaron Phypers. A stunned and tearful Denise is seen attempting to try to ruin footage of the heated exchanges, per People, and at one point walks out of an event and away from the cameras. "We'll never see Denise Richards again," Lisa Rinna ominously declares in the teaser.
While the powers that be over at Bravo are likely going to drag the details of this drama out throughout the whole season, social media exchanges between Brandi and Denise, along with some delectable gossip items published in early 2020, provide clues as to what fans can look forward to.
Rumors of an affair between Brandi Glanville and Denise Richards have been swirling
In January 2020, the Daily Mail reported that Brandi Glanville and Denise Richards had an affair while Denise was already married to hubby Aaron Phypers. The actress' representative denied that the rumors are true, but something is certainly going on between the two women.
According to the Daily Mail exclusive, Denise's castmates reportedly confronted her about the rumors during a November 2019 cast trip to Rome, which is why it has become a plot point on the upcoming season. Denise then skipped important filming events, like holiday parties and Teddi Mellencamp's baby shower, causing the reported affair and ensuing drama to become "the talk of Kathy Hilton's Christmas party," according to a source for the Daily Mail, which is quite possibly the most Beverly Hills thing you will ever hear in your lifetime.
Then, Denise reportedly took a page out of Lisa Vanderpump's Season 9 playbook and quit filming altogether for the final half of the season. While Denise has remained pretty much mum on the subject aside from statements from her rep, Brandi has taken to Twitter to say her piece.
Brandi Glanville and Denise Richards have taken their feud to Twitter
On Dec. 29, 2019, Brandi Glanville seemed to confirm a feud with Denise Richards after the aforementioned holiday parties when she tweeted that she had been "Denised." She followed that tweet up with another one cryptically saying, "1-blackmail is illegal 2-I have no skeletons in my closet (they're all on the internet) 3-slut shaming is soooooo last year."
On the same day, Brandi claimed on Instagram Live that she and Denise had hooked up on multiple occasions, per Hollywood Life. Lisa Rinna also got in on the social media shading by posting a comment on Instagram asking about Denise's whereabouts after skipping out on filming Dorit Kemsley's holiday party, per Cheatsheet.
During the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 10 premiere in April 2020, Brandi also tweeted a dig at Denise for reportedly being rude to a waiter who brought the wrong tequila in one scene of the show. "I was all fired up before my tequila was delivered. I felt terrible and apologized to the waiter. but I do know my tequila," Denise responded. (She also noted that she "felt awful" for being so rude to the server in a subsequent tweet, FWIW.)
Despite everything though, it does look like Denise will get a chance to share her side eventually this season.
Denise Richards will reportedly be at the 'RHOBH' reunion
The drama between Denise Richards and her Real Housewives of Beverly Hills castmates about the alleged affair with Brandi Glanville may just be juicy gossip, of course, since Denise has repeatedly denied hooking up with Brandi at all (per People). She also denied that she and husband Aaron Phypers have an open marriage, which would make the theoretical hookups much less scandalous.
Although she stopped filming Season 10 with the rest of the women after the Rome cast trip in November, Denise told Hollywood Life exclusively that she has no intention of skipping the reunion this year. "The only people who've said that I'm not going to the reunion are some of the ladies on the show and they never asked me if I was going or not," she said. Denise added that she would be down to do the reunion even over Zoom, given the uncertainty about filming due to the COVID-19 pandemic and concluded, "I never said that I wasn't going to be there. They're the ones that are saying that." She also said that she hasn't "quit" the show and would return for another season.
So rest assured, RHOBH fans: One day, the full story will be revealed about what went down between Brandi and Denise. It's just about counting down to that reunion now — let's all hope Andy Cohen invites both of them to take a seat on the couch.
