Who Is Demi Lovato's New Boyfriend, Max Ehrich?
For singer Demi Lovato, life in the public eye has been rather tumultuous. From her battle with addiction to her alleged drug overdose, the "Sorry Not Sorry" songstress hasn't had an easy life. But if the rumors are true, happiness might be on the horizon for Lovato and her new mystery man, actor Max Ehrich. Us Weekly broke the news, citing sources that claim Lovato and Ehrich "met a few weeks ago" and are "off to a strong start." In fact, the pair has chosen to self-isolate together amid the coronavirus outbreak.
"They have been quarantining together at Demi's house and it's going really well," another source told E! News. "Max is very into music and health, and he doesn't like to party. He is a good influence on Demi and they have a lot in common. They have a few mutual friends in common, but Demi has been introducing Max to her closest friends via FaceTime since being quarantined. It's very new but they are definitely hanging out and seeing where it leads. They have spent a lot of time together, but I wouldn't say it's an exclusive relationship yet."
But who's Lovato's new love interest exactly? Well, he's certainly no stranger to the spotlight, that's for sure.
Max Ehrich received multiple Daytime Emmy noms while starring on a soap
From his recurring guest star role on Ugly Betty to his time as principal dancer in High School Musical 3: Senior Year, Max Ehrich has been part of the TV scene for years. However, it was Ehrich's three-year turn as Fenmore Baldwin on the CBS soap The Young and the Restless that earned him four Daytime Emmy award nominations. Specifically, Ehrich gained recognition for his character's cyberbullying storyline.
"I have personally experienced bullying and I have many friends who have experienced bullying as well, and it touches home to such an extreme that I knew doing a storyline related to it was exciting," Ehrich told SheKnows. "I knew it was something that was going to be moving to the audience... For me in particular, I have always been an artist and have always been a creative person and have always thought outside the box and am always rooting for the underdog."
He expanded on his feelings about the plotline, sharing, "To be on the opposite end in this particular storyline was interesting, but I definitely feel like I could draw from my experience... On such a culture-driven show to have such a big storyline, it was thrilling that they trusted me to go to that depth."
Although Ehrich didn't win the Daytime Emmy award for Outstanding Younger Actor, his acclaimed role likely had an impact on others beyond himself.
Max Ehrich went into hiding after being stalked by an obsessed fan
Despite the fact that Max Ehrich left Y&R in 2015, the actor was forced into hiding after an obsessed fan began stalking him on Instagram in 2018. According to TMZ, the fan reportedly pulled a gun on Ehrich in a fit of rage. Sources said Ehrich looked at property with the fan, who was an L.A.-based realtor, and he became infatuated with the actor during this time.
At one point, the realtor allegedly became sexually aggressive, but Ehrich rebuffed his advances, and that made the realtor mad. Ehrich beefed up his security team immediately, according to TMZ, and alerted his fans via social media. "[I'm] safe & secure. I appreciate the messages. Don't take your safety for granted. There really are some sick people out there. Stay safe," Ehrich wrote in a now-deleted Instagram post, per Soap Central.
That's not the only time he addressed the incident. "The part that's not printed is that I was stalked on Instagram by this person months prior to the incident," Ehrich added in a subsequent Instagram post. "Social media is a great tool, but please be careful about sharing your locations. Unfortunately, there are creepy people out there. Live your life, but be cautious." Thankfully the police got involved and Ehrich hasn't experienced any issues since this scary ordeal.
Demi Lovato's new BF has been working hard to launch his own music career
Like his new girlfriend, Max Ehrich happens to be multi-talented, as he's also an up-and-coming singer. While Ehrich regularly posts videos of his vocals on social media, he also released his single "Somebody Else" last summer. And like Lovato, Ehrich drew his inspiration from a previous relationship gone wrong.
"A brief encounter with an ex that convinced me to meet up at a late hour in the night," he told Vents Magazine. "I had assumed it was to rekindle a flame, but later found out she was still in a relationship but just had gotten wind I was seeing someone else and wanted to see if she still had a hold on me. She didn't want the relationship back; she just didn't want me wanting 'somebody else.'"
Ehrich credits his acting career with helping him dive deep during songwriting sessions. "Acting requires me to be very in touch with my emotions and remain open to experiences," he said. "Allowing myself to feel things fully definitely plays a huge factor in being comfortable with the vulnerability of writing a song from the heart." Perhaps he and Lovato will make beautiful music together one day!
