The Untold Truth Of Meghan McCain's Husband, Ben Domenech
When Meghan McCain announced that she was pregnant in March 2020 in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, fans surely had a lot of questions. How was her pregnancy being affected by the coronavirus? Would she still appear on The View? Who is her husband? To satisfy your curiosity concerning the latter, we can tell you that McCain is married to a man named Ben Domenech.
After apparently dating for years, the television host revealed in November 2017 that she and Domenech were engaged. The two, who had been attempting to keep the status of their relationship a secret, tied the knot later that same month. "Meghan McCain and Ben Domenech were married today at the McCain family lodge in Sedona, Arizona," a rep for the television personality told People magazine in a statement. "The bride's father, Senator John McCain, gave her away and they were married by [CBS News reporter] John Dickerson."
The mix of politics and journalism during her nuptials was seemingly perfect for McCain whose life tends to revolve around both, and the same can be said for the man she married.
Meghan McCain's husband, Ben Domenech, is a 'conservative blogger' who has faced controversy
Meghan McCain is known as The View's right-leaning co-host, which is why it's not surprising that her husband, Ben Domenech, is a "conservative blogger," according to Women's Health. The outlet also notes that Domenech is the founder of The Federalist, a website that covers politics, religion, and culture. During an episode of The View, McCain explained that Domenech "works in politics and has for a long time," so he "wasn't as intimidated" by her world — he's also not a stranger to scandal.
Domenech has apparently been "linked to several controversies," per Women's Health. According to the Daily Mail, one scandal involved the blogger resigning from The Washington Post's conservative blog three days after he was hired following claims "he had plagiarized some of his previous work from articles that were originally published" in other publications. Domenech also found himself in trouble when "he alleged that then Supreme Court Justice nominee Elena Kagan was potentially the first openly gay candidate for that position," according to Good Housekeeping. When The White House stepped in, he "penned a piece apologizing to Elena." He was also accused of being paid to write "propaganda for the government of Malaysia," per Buzzfeed News.
All that being said, despite the scandals, McCain seems happy with her husband.
Meghan McCain says her husband helped her through a tough time
Ben Domenech may find himself caught up in sticky scandals from time to time but his wife, Meghan McCain, seems to be more focused on how he sticks with her through the rough patches. "I married for love and my husband carried me through my dad's cancer," McCain said on The View (via Good Housekeeping). "And if I had married a jacka** that made the most money ever, that was the wealthiest dude I dated, no way I would have survived [that] year."
The famous figure also explained that while she had "been single for so long" before getting married and "never thought" that she'd tie the knot, she thinks that it was worth the wait. "Wait for people who love strong women," she said. "The men who love strong, independent women, they're out there. Don't settle for less." That certainly sounds better than marrying a "jacka**."
