The Truth Behind The Khloe Kardashian And O.J. Simpson Drama
The line between Khloe Kardashian's public life and private affairs is more than just blurred — it's practically non-existent. She's been at the center of more than her fair share of celebrity controversies, from questions about her plastic surgery history to the hidden truth behind her dramatic history with exes Lamar Odom and Tristan Thompson to her much-publicized fertility issues. Perhaps the biggest issue currently plaguing Khloe in the pop culture sphere is the question of whether she is, as some rumors suggest, the biological daughter of O.J. Simpson. But is there any truth to these rumors?
It all started with her former stepmom
While the rumors of Khloe's potential parentage were bolstered by her appearance (in particular, the fact that she's so much taller than her sisters), she claimed that the real reason any of this got started is that her father Rob Kardashian's ex-wife brought it all up out of nowhere. In an episode of her short-lived series "Kocktails with Khloe," she explained, "I think the thing that most became overwhelming was when, like, the stuff happened with one of my dad's wives. She wanted to come out like 10 years later after my dad passed away and said that I'm not his daughter and that he confided in her and blah blah."
Indeed, roughly a decade after his death, Robert's third wife, Ellen Pierson, made public claims toStar Magazine that she'd spoken to him repeatedly about his children and he claimed Khloe was not his child.
But she wasn't the only one
Robert's second wife, Jan Ashley, also fueled suspicions that Khloe was not her ex-husband's biological daughter by revealing that he'd suspected his once-best friend O.J. Simpson of being her real dad. She reportedly once told Radar Online, "Robert said, 'Oh my god, he's so black, he has curly hair, so does Khloe. Oh my god, you think it's him?" She even quoted sister Kim Kardashian, adding "Kim said, 'It's gotta be him.'" According to Ashley's story, the reason Robert kept his thoughts to himself was to avoid hurting Khloe's feelings. "He just kind of looked at me and said [it] like it was a matter of fact. He said, 'Well you know that Khloe's not really a Kardashian, don't you?'"
Khloe and Kris Jenner call B.S. on the rumors
Shortly after these stories landed in 2012, Khloe tweeted her disgust with the situation, writing, "The audacity you have to mention my father's name like this! Should be ashamed of urself! I let a lot of things slide but this one is really low... YOU ARE DISGUSTING! (yes you know who YOU are)."
And in an explosive follow-up interview with "Good Morning America," Jenner also dispelled the rumors flatly by saying she'd "never heard such crap in [her] life," adding, "I was there, right? ... I gave birth. I know who the dad was. Everything's good. We're all good. Don't worry about it." She also explained why "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" included an episode about the dilemma of whether Khloe should submit to a DNA test in 2009, seemingly giving weight to these accusations: "It's the family joke because Khloe was blonde and not dark-haired. But people, just get a life." Indeed, shortly after the story gained traction, Kim shared a picture of a magazine's cover image which compared Khloe to Simpson and his daughter Sydney Simpson and joked, "Now we have all the answers! It makes sense now! Khloe u are so tan!" (Those test results, by the way, proved only that Khloe was the biological daughter of Jenner, but she did not submit to a test to compare her DNA to her siblings and confirm her relationship to Robert.)
Robert's legally recognized as Khloe's dad
Court documents filed by Robert during his lifetime (within a petition for annulment of his marriage to Jan Ashley on the grounds that he did not want to father children with her) showed that, for all legal purposes, he considered himself to have four biological children, so on paper, he certainly claimed Khloe as his own.
But Jenner did once have an affair
In Jenner's 2011 memoir "Kris Jenner... And All Things Kardashian," she admitted to having an affair with Todd Waterman in 1989 (a few years after Khloe's birth, of course), and while she's never confirmed any romantic entanglements with O.J. Simpson specifically, some people still wondered whether her infidelity may have extended to the former football star, who was the prime suspect in the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman in 1994. Simpson's former manager, Norman Pardo, told InTouch that he believed "Khloe could be O.J.'s kid."
Simpson denied having sex with Jenner
Simpson's former prison guard, Jeffrey Felix, claimed that he'd spoken to him about the rumors surrounding his potential fatherhood of Khloe and quoted him as saying he'd never had romantic entanglements with Jenner. "I would never do that to my friend Bob," Simpson reportedly said. "I would never tap Kris." Simpson, who died in April 2024, was reportedly agreeable to contributing to a paternity test for Khloe.
She's able to laugh the rumors off now
In an interview during which Khloe was again confronted with the rumor that she is the biological daughter of Simpson and not the man who raised her, she joked, "Again? ... Honey. I don't look half black to you? What? Don't insult me. Now I know I'm pale, but honey ..." Her biggest problem with this whole situation, it seems, is that her father's not around anymore to defend himself against the allegations. She once said of her former stepmothers' accusatory words, "You can talk about me and my sisters all you f–king want. Do not talk about my dad."
