The Untold Truth Of John Cho's Wife
Korean-American actor John Cho has been perfecting his craft for decades, popping up in quite a few popular movies and television shows over the years. While he's got a very impressive resume, Cho is best known for his roles as Harold Lee in the Harold & Kumar movies and Hikaru Sulu in the Star Trek reboot series.
In 2004, the first Harold & Kumar movie, Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, provided Cho with his big break, allowing him the opportunity to go from background actor to leading man. By the time the second Harold & Kumar film hit theaters in 2008, Cho's life had changed in more ways than one. In addition to being offered bigger and better roles, Cho also met the love of his life, wife Kerri Higuchi.
According to Glamour, the two met while attending UC Berkeley and then began dating after they both found their way to Los Angeles. Cho told Glamour that his wife's confidence is what initially drew her to him. "She knows who she is," Cho said. "I knew nothing about that. I was so unsettled at that age and so scatterbrained. It's beautiful when you see a person who's self-assured and knows who she is."
Considering the fact that Cho tends to shy away from questions about Higuchi in interviews — only offering a rare gem here and there — we don't know a whole lot about the couple's super private relationship. That being said, here's what we were able to find out about John Cho's wife.
John Cho's wife spent some time in the spotlight
While John Cho has been gracing our screens for years now, he's not the only one with a lengthy resume filled with acting credits. Cho's wife, Kerri Higuchi, landed her first gig back in 1998, appearing in a short called, World Inside Me. Since then, she's appeared on several notable television shows including, ER, Parks and Recreation and Grey's Anatomy.
The majority of her gigs were one-off appearances, but Higuchi did land a recurring role on Grey's Anatomy, appearing on the show as OB/GYN Elizabeth Chen in seasons one and six. Fun fact: Higuchi's hubby also had a turn at Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital, showing up as Dr. Marshall Stone in season two.
For a time, Higuchi was regularly booking gigs. However, at the time of this writing, her most acting credit is an appearance on Scandal back in 2015. That's because, these days, she's focusing on raising her kiddos with Cho telling Glamour, "She's mainly a stay-at-home mom." After Cho and Higuchi tied the knot in 2006, the couple welcomed two children into the world. Their first child, a boy, was born in 2008, and their daughter was born in 2013.
While it's unclear whether or not Higuchi will start acting again once her kids get a little older, it's evident that Cho equally respects his wife as an actor and a mother. "She's such a good actor," he told Glamour. "I've learned a lot from her." Aww, way to give credit where credit is due, John!
