Meghan Markle Looks Elegant At Final Royal Engagements
Meghan Markle's life will certainly change now that she's opting for a (semi) normal life over a royal role following Megxit. However, since Markle is technically a senior royal until March 31, 2020, she had to travel to the U.K. in early March 2020 for a final round of official appearances before she settles into her new life in Canada with Prince Harry and their son, Archie (who's been staying home while his parents handle business).
Ahead of Markle's first official public event with her husband since the couple dropped the bombshell announcement that they were leaving their royal duties behind, the former actress popped up in London outside the Goring Hotel on March 5, 2020 looking "every inch the lady," according to Page Six.
As fabulous as always, "Markle bundled up in a classic camel wrap coat by Alex Eagle ($1,714) and accessorized with pearl-studded Aquazzura pumps ($683) and a boxy black mini bag by Loewe ($2,250)." While we don't know whether those items are a part of her royal wardrobe or pieces she's purchased on her own (which she can certainly afford to do), it's clear that the Duchess hasn't lost her stunning sense of style. Proof of that is in the next outfit that she showed up in, which was even more striking than the first.
Meghan Markle was a beauty in blue
Meghan Markle's camera-worthy camel coat look wasn't the only outfit that had people talking. Later, the Duchess of Sussex attended the annual Endeavour Fund Awards, an event that honors veterans, alongside her husband, Prince Harry, who once served in the armed forces himself.
Since the weather wasn't really cooperating, the "two arrived under pelting rain and a huge umbrella," according to USA Today. However, the atmosphere only added an extra level of drama to the movie-like moment. "Meghan was sleek in a turquoise crepe pencil dress by Victoria Beckham and her hair, clasped behind her in a low ponytail, was noticeably longer since the last time she was photographed in public in London," the outlet noted. She added dark blue accents to her outfit with both her shoes and the purse that she carried (which matched Harry's suit) and finished off the look with dark eyeliner and crimson lipstick which were perfect for the event which took place after dark.
Unsurprisingly, the public quickly took to social media to express their thoughts on Markle's style statement.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry couldn't have looked happier
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry may still be dealing with the details regarding starting a new life outside of their royal roles, but they apparently aren't letting any stress get in the way of their happiness. When the pair showed up to kick off their farewell tour, the press didn't just note how good the Duchess looked, they also noted how happy she and her husband both seemed.
According to Page Six, Markle was "[b]eaming as she exited the Goring Hotel" after arriving in England. Beyond that, USA Today explained that during the couple's later appearance at the Endeavour Fund Awards, "[t]here was little sign during the [event] of the turmoil that has swirled around the Sussexes for the last two months, especially in the British tabloids where their decision to step back from royal duties has been vehemently condemned as 'Megxit' and as a slap at his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II."
That's pretty darn obvious when you see how the duo were smiling as they arrived, resulting in a now-viral photo that shows them gazing into each other's eyes — an image that will surely become a part of their loving legacy. At least, if the adoring public has anything to say about it.
Meghan Markle's royal farewell fashion is stirring up reactions
When Meghan Markle and Prince Harry stepped out for the first of their final official appearances in the U.K., the public was stirred into a frenzy. In particular, people were keen to comment on the Duchess. "Here for the absolute glamour," one Twitter user wrote. Another tweeted, "Is it my imagination or is this the first time in a while that Meghan Markle has worn bright colors and that glorious shade of red lipstick?! To Freedom...and Fenty!"
Other social media users focused on how content the couple seems to be. "The love I'm seeing for #HarryandMeghan is melting my heart. I'm so happy they're happy!!" an admirer captioned *the* photo of the pair. Another commented: "What a photo! Against the flashes of the press, these two back in the UK, together & sheltered against the storm." Still, another person added, "Call me sentimental but I think this picture explains everything, it was all about love, you know, that deep down arrow through your heart kind of love, when you're willing to sacrifice all to protect & keep someone safe." Excuse us while we wipe away a tear or two.
As The Sydney Morning Herald notes: "Judging from the reaction on social media, & the wild enthusiasm from the crowds, the public is in full agreement. A royal title is irrelevant in the face of blinding charisma and glamour." Too true. Here's to royals who follow their hearts!
