Meghan Markle's Brother Just Made A Serious Accusation
From the very beginning of her relationship with Prince Harry, Meghan Markle has faced quite a bit of criticism. In fact, just months after they started dating — in an unprecedented move — Prince Harry released a lengthy statement, publicly defending his then girlfriend. The statement noted that Markle had "been subject to a wave of abuse and harassment" both publicly and privately. "Prince Harry is worried about Ms Markle's safety and is deeply disappointed that he has not been able to protect her," the statement added. "It is not right that a few months into a relationship with him that Ms. Markle should be subjected to such a storm."
Despite Harry's efforts early on, the "storm” has raged on. Since tying the knot in May 2018, Markle and Harry have sued the British media multiple times for unwarranted "bullying." That being said, the attacks haven't just been coming from the media — they've been coming from Markle's family, as well. It's part of the reason that — except for her mother, Doria Ragland — Markle's family wasn't invited to the royal wedding.
For the past few years, various members of Markle's family have been dragging her name through the mud. It's usually Markle's father, Thomas Markle, or her half-sister, Samantha Markle, who are talking to the tabloids, but now her half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr. has surfaced, seemingly hoping to score his 15 minutes of fame.
We're diving into the serious accusation Markle's brother just made about the Duchess of Sussex.
Meghan Markle's brother blames her for his current situation
In an interview with Australian Magazine New Idea published on March 2, 2020, Meghan Markle's half- brother, Thomas Markle Jr., opened up about why he feels his sister is to blame for his homelessness and lack of employment. "Being associated with Meghan has nearly destroyed me," the 53-year-old told the magazine. He went on to claim that he had lost his job and hasn't been able to get a new one because of the "notoriety of being related to the duchess." Markle Jr. went on to say: "I am homeless and could have been under a bridge with a cardboard sign begging for money but thankfully my mum has taken me in." According to the outlet, Markle Jr. is currently living with his mother in a "small apartment in Albuquerque, New Mexico."
Markle Jr., who was arrested for allegedly holding a gun to his girlfriend's head "following a drunken argument" in 2017, believes that his half-sister should have been there for him in his time of need. "Meghan could have helped me or got someone else at the palace to do so." Since Markle hasn't offered to help and her half-brother thinks that his supposed royal ties are doing him more harm than good, Markle Jr. told the magazine that he is considering changing his last name to "escape it's 'curse'."
Honestly, Markle would probably be more than happy to hear about that name change. Especially considering the fact that this isn't the first time Markle Jr. has bashed his half-sister.
This isn't the first time Meghan Markle's brother has made unfounded claims
In the months leading up to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's wedding, it seemed like every member of Markle's family came out of the woodwork to offer up their two cents, including Thomas Markle Jr.
In a note obtained by InTouch Weekly in May 2018, Markle Jr. told Harry that it wasn't "too late" to reconsider walking down the aisle with his half-sister. "As more time passes to your royal wedding, it became very clear that this is the biggest mistake in royal wedding history," Tom wrote. Yikes! He continued, "Meghan Markle is obviously not the right woman for you, adding that Markle is a "jaded, shallow, conceited woman that will make a joke of you and the royal family heritage."
Needless to say, Harry didn't dignify the letter with a response. After sitting by the mailbox for about a week with no response in sight, Markle Jr. decided to do a complete 180, telling The Mirror he felt "like an ass" for bashing Markle. He even went so far as to praise his half-sister, saying, "This is every woman's dream come true – to marry a prince. I couldn't be more happy for or proud of my sister. She's incredible."
Given his past behavior, we're not shocked that Markle didn't feel particularly inclined to lend a helping hand to her brother. And who's to say that he even reached out to her in the first place? That being said, we wouldn't be surprised if she gave the recent accusation levelled against her about as much thought as Harry gave the pre-wedding letter.
