Whoopi Goldberg And Co-Hosts Of The View React To Kobe Bryant's Death
L.A. Lakers alum and NBA legend Kobe Bryant tragically died in a helicopter crash on Jan. 26, 2020, alongside his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna Bryant, and seven other passengers. The news sent shockwaves across Hollywood and around the world, touching countless people who were moved by his career and life in some way. The pain was especially evident at the 62nd Grammy Awards, which was held at The Staples Center on the same day as Kobe's passing.
"We're literally standing here heartbroken in the house that Kobe Bryant built," singer Alicia Keys said, before belting out a tribute to the late athlete alongside Boyz II Men. Plenty of celebrities also chimed in on social media, including model Chrissy Teigen, who tweeted, "Downtown right now and nothing feels more unimportant than what we are doing today. This is absolutely terrible. Everyone is numb."
In addition to Keys and Teigen, Whoopi Goldberg and her co-hosts on The View also shared their devastated reactions with the world. Here's what they had to say.
The women of The View can all agree that this is tragic
It's safe to say the ladies of The View are heartbroken over the loss of Kobe Bryant and his teenage daughter, Gianna Bryant.
"RIP Kobe, hero to many including my grandson, extraordinary athlete and always kind to me & my family. My deepest condolences to his family," actor Whoopi Goldberg tweeted, while political commentator Meghan McCain said, "This is just gut-wrenching.... So tragic. Sending strength and love to his family and loved ones." Co-host Sunny Hostin wrote: "My God. My prayers for Kobe's mother, father, wife Vanessa and for his three daughters. They have lost a son, husband, father, daughter, granddaughter and sister. I cannot imagine the heartache." And Abby Huntsman, who departed The View in early January 2020, wrote on Twitter: "Feel sick reading this news. More than anything else, he was a dad to four beautiful kids. My heart breaks for his family. Life is so precious."
