The Real Reason Kristin Cavallari And Kelly Henderson Aren't Friends Anymore
Laguna Beach alum and Very Cavallari star Kristin Cavallari is killing it these days. Not only is she married to former NFL star Jay Cutler, but she has three adorable children: Camden, Jaxon, and Saylor. The cherry on top? The reality star is the owner of a successful jewelry brand, Uncommon James, which boasts two brick-and-mortar stores in Nashville and Chicago. But the shiny veneer of Cavallari's seemingly perfect life is tarnished by numerous heartbreaks, including her feud with her ex-BFF, Kelly Henderson.
Viewers might remember Henderson, a celeb stylist, being featured prominently on the series. Cavallari was seen accompanying her friend to an appointment about Henderson's fertility. In another episode, The Hills grad was shown trying to find her pal a boyfriend. Translation: These two were very close.
Cut to Season 3 of the show, and Henderson is nowhere to be seen with the exception of a dramatic cameo that was cut short. So what gives? We'll sort out this mess and get to the real reason Kristin Cavallari and Kelly Henderson apparently aren't friends anymore.
There's bad blood over rumors about Kelly and Jay Cutler
We're not sure where the rumors started, but during Season 2 of Very Cavallari, there were allegations that Kelly Henderson was cheating with Kristin Cavallari's longtime husband, Jay Cutler. Obviously, the gossip put a strain on the pair's friendship. "There was a lot of talk on social media about Jay and Kelly having an affair," Cavallari explained, per People. "Not for one second have I ever thought that it was true. It wasn't the actual accusations of them having an affair that made me upset, it was how Kelly went about it."
Apparently, Henderson continued to talk about Cutler on social media and didn't reach out to Cavallari to discuss the speculation. That supposed lack of concern is what irritated the mom-of-three and made her think her former bestie was just thirsty for fame. Cavallari unloaded on a Season 3 episode: "The whole time, her whole thing has been 'I don't care about the show. I only care about your friendship,'" Cavallari tells pal Justin Anderson. "She drank the Kool-Aid. Big time."
Henderson denied Cavallari's characterization, telling Anderson, "If I only cared about the show, I would've been like, up her a** to try to be on the show."
Funny enough, Cutler didn't seem to have much to say about the whole situation. When Cavallari vented to him about the fallout, he offered his wife a simple "I'm sorry." Hmm.
Kristin Cavallari has 'trust issues'
It can be easy to forget that Kristin Cavallari was once a teen reality star skyrocketing to fame á la MTV's Laguna Beach, especially now that she's a bonafide businessperson with her own TV show. But once upon a time, Cavallari was battling it out with her then-nemesis Lauren Conrad and navigating an on-and-off relationship with her former boyfriend, Stephen Colletti. All that fame at an early age left the Nashville resident with somewhat of a bad taste in her mouth, as she explained to hairstylist Justin Anderson on an episode of Very Cavallari: "I have trust issues, I do. I've had people in the past take advantage of me for their own personal gain. When I started to feel like Kelly was really using me, it triggered something within me."
Is there a chance this friendship will recover, despite Cavallari's concerns and baggage? Don't hold your breath. "Kristin and Kelly still haven't spoken. Kristin is very hurt," a source told People in January 2020. "She thought Kelly was her best friend and Kelly just didn't want to admit that she was wrong about how she handled the situation. She just disappeared on Kristin and then reappeared when they started filming again. The ball is in Kelly's corner now."
It sounds like this friendship — as Cavallari's highschool self would say — is dunzo.
