Ireland Baldwin: The Truth About Alec Baldwin's Daughter
It's safe to say that Ireland Baldwin, who is the daughter of Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger, is not the most famous member of the Baldwin family. After all, for many years her biggest claim to fame was the nasty, rage-filled phone message from her father that ended up making headlines. But, these days, Baldwin is all grown up and living the kind of enviable life that you might expect from the daughter of two famous folks.
If you take a peek at Baldwin's Instagram account, you'll see her enjoying dreamy holidays, visiting with horses in the countryside, hanging out on the red carpet, and even spending a little time posing with her dad's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame — talk about a charmed life! However, Baldwin doesn't just sit back and enjoy the spoils of being the child of two celebrities. She's also making a name for herself in the industry. While both of her parents found fame and fortune through acting, Ireland chose to take her talents elsewhere.
Ireland Baldwin opted for modeling over acting
Like other celebrity kids who are poised to become huge models, including her own cousin, Hailey Bieber (née Baldwin), Ireland Baldwin has found plenty of success posing for the cameras.
Baldwin got started in the business in 2013 when she was still just a teenager by signing with IMG Models. IMG is a powerhouse in the industry that's credited with handling the careers of top names like Tyra Banks, Gisele Bündchen, and Kate Moss, while also managing a younger generation of models including Cara Delevingne, sisters Gigi and Bella Hadid, and Hailey Bieber. However, after just two years with IMG, Baldwin switched over to DT Model Management.
Thanks to her savvy representatives, Ireland has appeared in publications like W Magazine, Vanity Fair, Elle, DuJour, and Grazia, which is, in part, why, according to Celebrity Net Worth, she's now a millionaire in her own right — even if she only has a single million to her name. However, if she continues to land lucrative modeling gigs, she'll surely bump that amount up in the future. And yet, as we all surely know, money isn't everything. That's why Baldwin has also been looking for love.
Ireland Baldwin isn't afraid to love freely
Soon after making her debut in the modeling world, Ireland Baldwin became involved with another famous face: rapper Angel Haze. According to The Huffington Post UK, the two were introduced by Baldwin's cousin (we're assuming Hailey Bieber) at New York Fashion Week in 2014. The same year, the rapper confirmed the two were in a relationship. However, Haze revealed that there was some confusion around their status, telling The Independent, "[E]veryone just calls us best friends, best friends for life, like we're just friends hanging out. It's funny. It's rad in some ways, it sucks in others."
While the two were together, they not only got matching tattoos, but Haze also dedicated the song "Candlxs" to Baldwin. The model can be seen in the cover art which was created by the rapper and features the couple sitting in a field of flowers. "This is one of the first songs I wrote for my new record (also painted the artwork), it feels incredibly personal, but I'm happy to finally share the passion I've felt but couldn't express," Haze wrote on Tumblr (via Vibe). Although the relationship didn't last and Baldwin is now dating musician Corey Harper, fans can at least still listen to the song that came out of Baldwin and Haze's time together.
Even though Baldwin hasn't opened up about her time with Haze, she has been honest about what came after the relationship: rehab.
Ireland Baldwin has been honest about rehab and her "emotional trauma"
When Ireland Baldwin's romance with Angel Haze ended in 2015, the model decided that it was time to get some help and voluntarily checked into rehab. However, a source confirmed to Page Six that it wasn't the relationship or breakup that led to Baldwin's rehab stay. The model's time in rehab was reportedly due to "emotional trauma."
Opting to stay at Malibu's Soba Recovery Center, Baldwin took to Twitter (on her now-suspended account) to write, "I checked myself into Soba for two weeks to just get away for a little bit (via ABC News)," she wrote. "I'm not much a party cat but I am here deal with..some emotional trauma and getting the intensive therapy I needed in order to recover."
"Someday I'll feel ready to share my story... openly without feeling the way I do," Baldwin continued in her honest message. "Right now I just needed a breather. I needed a chance to work on myself and gather all the tools. ... I need to overcome everything that I had been through and rid myself of all the pain I locked away in unreachable places." Years later, she was, indeed, finally able to share her story.
Ireland Baldwin opened up about her eating disorders
It may have taken Ireland Baldwin a few years to share her struggles, but, when she finally did, she didn't hold back. The model was incredibly honest about her days dealing with eating disorders. In 2018, she took to her Instagram stories (via People) to write, "I battled with many eating disorders and body issues as a younger girl and it took me a long time to find self love and acceptance! Trust me, all of that pain and destruction I inflicted on myself wasn't worth it. Turning down so. Many. Sides. Of. Fries. Wasn't worth it!!"
"I would eat a meal or more like a bite and have to run to the nearest bathroom or find digestive pills or run until I couldn't feel my legs right before bed," Baldwin continued, sharing her past experience with the eating disorder. "I used to read people's comments when I first started modeling and anytime anyone told me I was too tall or too fat to have done a job, I would run on a treadmill for the entire duration of at least three episodes of Friday Night Lights that I had on box set."
These days, Baldwin is feeling differently. She added, "Love yourself!! You are beautiful!! Enjoy your food. Eat ice cream with your friends! Workout and eat healthy to take care of your mind and body but find your healthy balance! Life is too short." Wise words, indeed!
