What Ed Sheeran Really Thinks About Joe Alwyn
Countless famous men have come in and out of Taylor Swift's life over the years, but one who has always stuck around is her bestie, Ed Sheeran. The two first met in 2012 and instantly hit off, cranking out their first collaboration, "Everything Has Changed," that same year. By 2013, the two were inseparable. They even toured when Sheeran opened for Swift on her Red Tour. Fast forward to 2020, and Swift and Sheeran's friendship is still going strong.
Sheeran has undoubtedly witnessed first-hand the highs and lows of Swift's love life over the course of their friendship, and while he usually doesn't comment publicly on Swift's beaus, he has made an exception here and there. Back in 2015, when rumors were swirling that Swift and Calvin Harris might be an item (spoiler alert: they were), the "Shape of You" singer told ZM Online that he would give the relationship his "seal of approval."
There's a new lover in Swift's life now, British actor Joe Alwyn, and we're dying to know what Teddy thinks of him. While Sheeran stayed quiet on Swift's whirlwind romance with Tom Hiddleston — who served as a buffer between Harris and Alwyn — he did have some things to say about Tay Tay's "London Boy."
Ed Sheeran approves of Taylor Swift's lover
Swifties who ship Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn can breathe a sigh of relief because, as far as Ed Sheeran is concerned, these two are a match made in heaven. "They are very much in love, they have quite a low-key relationship, which Taylor likes," Sheeran told Capital London's Breakfast Show in October 2017 (via Cosmopolitan UK). "It's normal, and no one really knows about it right now." The singer also seems to genuinely like Alwyn. "He's really nice. Really, really friendly, really good dude."
Alwyn probably earned some bonus points when he made a rare public appearance with Swift to support Sheeran during his set at the Jingle Bell Ball in December 2017. Once again, Sheeran is giving his seal of approval. Let's hope he doesn't jinx things because we would really love some more songs about Alwyn and we're pretty sure Alwyn wouldn't mind a few more as well.
