What Really Happened Between Brad Pitt And Jennifer Aniston At The Golden Globes
Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston split up in 2005 after five years of marriage, but that doesn't mean that fans have stopped obsessing over the Hollywood duo and hoping that they might someday get back together. The internet flipped its lid when Pitt showed up as a guest at Aniston's 50th birthday party, and buzz around a possible reconciliation reached new heights when both actors showed up to the 77th Golden Globe Awards ceremony on Jan. 5, 2020. Pitt even predicted a reunion with his ex-wife at the event. What? Gah!
Entertainment Tonight's Kevin Frazier stirred up the award show buzz during an interview with Pitt on the red carpet. He point-blank told the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood star that, "Everyone is waiting. They're hoping for this moment where you and Jennifer run into each other so they can take their picture." Pitt didn't seem flustered at all by the comment. In fact, he fanned the flames with his smooth and confident response: "I'll run into Jen. She's a good friend." And there was more! Pitt called this dream run-in with "Jenn" the "second most important reunion of her year." Laughing, Pitt clarified: "That was a play on Friends." (Aniston reunited with her Friends co-stars in an epic Instagram selfie in October 2019.)
As for Aniston, she seemed just as pleased to see her ex...
Jennifer Aniston got everyone talking with one look
Brad Pitt's delight over ex-wife Jennifer Aniston attending the 2020 Golden Globes certainly didn't appear to be one-sided. The Morning Show star also seemed pleased to see her former flame.
When Pitt took the stage to accept the award for best supporting actor in a motion picture, thanks to his role in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, he delivered a light-hearted speech that included a few jokes that made the crowd laugh, including Aniston. While poking fun at himself and his co-star Leonardo DiCaprio, Pitt also mentioned that he wanted to bring his mother as his date to the event. However, he decided that it wasn't a good idea due to the fact that the tabloids would make up silly stories about them dating. As Pitt joked about dating in the spotlight, the Golden Globes cameras shifted to Aniston.
What did she do? Roll her eyes? Sip some water? Look on awkwardly? Nope, nope, and nope.
Aniston looked on with an adorable smile — like, a Rachel-looking-at-Ross-style-smile — that we are most certainly reading far too much into but we don't even care. C'mon, now, once upon a time in Hollywood...
Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston enjoyed a Golden Globes after party reunion
While Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston didn't appear to meet up during the Golden Globes ceremony, a reunion did take place at after-party celebrations. First, both stars attended Netflix's big bash along with fellow celebrities such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, and director Martin Scorsese. Aniston was also schmoozing with A-listers and spotted hanging out with Sandra Bullock and Glenn Close.
A source told E! News, "Brad was in a great mood and very social with everybody — except Jennifer Aniston, who kept her distance at a booth a level up behind Brad." While that isn't the romantic rendezvous that some fans were hoping for, it turns out that the exes did "briefly interact" a little later.
After heading over to the CAA shindig, the two exes finally came face to face. "They said hello very quickly," an insider revealed. "It was brief, but [they] were very cordial and friendly and seemed happy to be there. They approached each other once they saw each other inside and looked happy as they started to hug and say hello. Jen whispered something to Brad, but it wasn't in an affectionate way. They both didn't seem like they wanted to make a big deal about being together in the same room although it was a private party. They were trying to be low-key." Yeah, like that's possible.
Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston's fans were freaking out about a reunion
Considering it's been ages since Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston were a couple and years since they seemed inclined to be seen together publicly, fans were beyond thrilled by this Golden Globes reunion — even if it was just a blip in the festivities.
As one Twitter user wrote: "#BradPitt [and] #JenniferAniston just need to go ahead and get back together and give us something to really smile about in these heinous times we are living in right now." Another follower appears to be jumping to conclusions (but feeling really good about it) with this tweet: "I know it's none of my business, but I feel healed by the idea that Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt are back together."
Of course, others are clearly unmoved and unimpressed by the circumstances: "[C]an people shut up about [B]rad [P]itt and [J]ennifer [A]niston why y'all obsessing over something that happened 20 years ago[?]"
Speaking of obsessing, raise your hand if you want to take a closer look at Aniston and Pitt's friendship. C'mon, you know you do.
