Couples Who Met On-Set And Stayed Together
It's Hollywood. When you're a beautiful person getting paid to make out with an equally beautiful person, chances are at some point, you're going to get smitten. These stars all met on-set and are still together to this day, giving hope to everyone who's ever had a crush on a coworker.
Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa
Before there was Live! With Kelly, there was All My Children. Mark Consuelos starred as Mateo Santos on the long-running ABC soap, with Kelly Ripa playing his love interest, Hayley Vaughn. The couple have been together for more than two decades off-screen, and just celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary in April 2016. The couple are also parents to three children. It's not quite as dramatic as a real-life soap opera, but it's just as romantic and adorable to witness.
Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds met on the set of Green Lantern in 2010. At the time, Reynolds was married to Scarlett Johansson and Lively was dating her Gossip Girl co-star Penn Badgley. Lively and Badgley broke up in September 2010, and Reynolds and Johansson filed for divorce in December 2010.
Lively moved on to Leonardo DiCaprio in early 2011, but by October 2011, paparazzi spotted her and Reynolds getting cozy; less than a year later, the couple tied the knot. They're now parents to two daughters.
Reynolds explained to People that they started out as pals. "About a year after Green Lantern had come and gone and we were both single we went on a double date—she was on a date with another guy and I was on a date with another girl—and it was like the most awkward date for the respective parties because we were just like fireworks coming across. We were buddies for a long time, which I think is the best way to have a relationship, to start as friends." Awww!
Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Gellar
Freddie Prinze, Jr. and Sarah Michelle Gellar met on the set of I Know What You Did Last Summer and have been every '90s teen's relationship goal ever since.
Prinze, Jr. told People that he knew she was the one on their first date. "A lot of girls back then in Hollywood as far as the actresses, they didn't eat, they ate salad. And I had gone on a date with a handful of them; they would never eat what I would eat. You have to have that in common with me if we're going to get along. And so Sarah came to dinner with me, and we sat down and she ate everything...and she ate it without even blinking, and I was like, 'Yo, my girl is legit.'"
The couple also co-starred in Scooby Doo in 2002, the same year they tied the knot. They've been together for nearly two decades and counting and are parents to daughter Charlotte and son Rocky.
Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes
Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes met on the set of The Place Beyond The Pines in 2011 and took their romance into real life when they were spotted at Disneyland together that September. The couple are so private that Mendes and Gosling are parents of two daughters, Esmeralda and Amada—and no one even reported the actress was pregnant until just before Esmeralda and just after Amada was born. In September 2016, Us Weekly reported that Gosling and Mendes secretly tied the knot, but other sources denied it. Considering how low this pair flies under the radar, whether or not they got hitched is anyone's guess, but they are still happy together.
Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer
Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer took their True Blood romance off-screen—and they did so before the show even aired for the first time in 2008! Moyer told Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live (via People), "We met screen testing for the show. We were both single at the time, and there was just this kind of spark...I didn't see her for three months [until the show began filming], and she had gone from having dark hair to this beautiful blond, and I had gone from being blond to this dark vampire. By day three or four—oh, this is going to sound so syrupy—but I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her. It was within seconds, really, and it just became a thing."
The couple married in 2010 and are parents to fraternal twins, proving that true love will never die.
Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher
Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher met on the set of That '70s Show when they starred as shallow but cute couple Jackie and Kelso, but they didn't get together until much later—after Kutcher had married and divorced Demi Moore and after Kunis ended an eight-year relationship with Macaulay Culkin.
Kunis told People back in 2001 that Kutcher was her first kiss ever. "I was like, 'Oh, he's so cute, it's the Calvin Klein model!' Then I was like, 'I have to kiss him?' I was so nervous and uncomfortable. I had the biggest crush on him." She added, "Ashton was so nice. He just made jokes and gave me funny little compliments. He made me laugh." Kutcher also admitted at the time, "I'm the first guy she kissed? Oh my God, I had no idea! I'm so glad I didn't know that or it would've been too much pressure...I was so nervous. She acted so cool. She seemed as if she'd done it a thousand times. I was the one with the butterflies in my stomach. I mean, here's this little girl and I have to kiss her. It was nerve-racking."
The pair wed in July 2015. In 2016, Kunis told Howard Stern that it was good that they waited until they got older to get together, noting, "We would never be together based on the people that we used to be...We started dating with the idea we were both never going to get married. A year later we were like, ”Tomorrow let's [get married]." They're now parents to daughter Wyatt Isabelle, born in October 2014, and a son, Dimitri, born in November 2016.
LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian
Eddie Cibrian was married to Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills star Brandi Glanville when he met LeAnn Rimes, who was married to Dean Sheremet, on the set of the 2009 Lifetime movie Northern Lights. Rimes and Cibrian reportedly had an affair, divorced and feuded with their respective partners before they tied the knot in April 2011. Cibrian and Rimes later made peace with Glanville, though that didn't last very long.
Kaitlin Olson and Rob McElhenney
When Rob McElhenney cast Kaitlin Olson in It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, he didn't realize at the time that the woman playing his pal on the show would eventually become his real-life wife. "We were very sneaky at first because we thought, 'This is a really bad idea.' But then I fell in love with him," Olson told InStyle. They married in 2008 and are parents to two boys.
Alexis Bledel and Vincent Kartheiser
Though Vincent Kartheiser and Alexis Bledel's onscreen romance on Mad Men was dramatic and short-lived, their real-life romance is lowkey and ongoing: they met on set in 2012 but didn't get together until filming wrapped. "We were completely professional. We never saw each other out," Kartheiser told Vulture. "We never—it was nothing, it was just work." They quietly married in 2014 and welcomed their first child in fall 2015.
Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott
Ladies, keep your husbands away from Lifetime movie sets! Tori Spelling met husband Dean McDermott in 2005 on the set of the 2006 Lifetime film Mind Over Murder while they were each married to other people. People reports they tied the knot in 2006 after divorcing their respective spouses. Four children, one cheating scandal, and several reality shows later, they're still going strong—and welcomed their fifth child in May 2017.
Claire Danes and Hugh Dancy
Claire Danes and Hugh Dancy fell in love on the set of the movie Evening. As he recalled to London's Evening Standard, "I went out to appear on Broadway in Journey's End for five months. To do something very English, very British. Then my personal life changed and I ended up staying there. I made a movie and met my wife." The pair married in secret in 2009 and are parents to son Cyrus, born in 2012.
Kit Harington and Rose Leslie
Game Of Thrones stars Rose Leslie and Kit Harington took their once-very-private relationship public at the Olivier Awards in April 2016 after playing love interests on the HBO hit. Harington opened up about their romance in a subtle way to Vogue Italia (translated by E! News) in May 2016, telling the fashion mag that filming season two in Iceland paved the way to love for the pair, who've been together off-and-on since 2012. "Because the country is beautiful, because the Northern Lights are magical, and because it was there that I fell in love," Harington said of his favorite season of the series. "If you're already attracted to someone, and then they play your love interest in the show, it's becomes very easy to fall in love."
In July 2017, it was reported that they had bought a home together.
Josh Dallas and Ginnifer Goodwin
Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas found their own happily ever after on the set of Once Upon A Time, playing Snow White and Prince Charming. Dallas told People that it was love at first sight for the pair, who met while filming in 2011 and went public with their romance in early 2012.
"I think falling in love is always a surprise, right?" he said. "It hit me like a blinding light. I thought, 'I'm in trouble now.'...[I] would like to think she felt exactly the same way." They married in April 2014 and are parents to two boys.
Mia Goth and Shia LaBeouf
Shia LaBeouf and Mia Goth met while filming Nymphomaniac in 2011 and have had a volatile on-again-off-again relationship ever since. The couple appeared to have gotten married in October 2016, but local officials later claimed that the Las Vegas Elvis-performed wedding wasn't a legal one, but rather a commitment ceremony.
Emily Vancamp and Josh Bowman
Josh Bowman and Emily Vancamp met on the set of Revenge in 2011 and have been inseparable ever since. However, Vancamp admitted that sometimes mixing work and play messed with Vancamp's head—like when (spoiler alert!) Bowman's character got killed off the series. She told E! News, "It was something that was discussed a while back, and it was a way to move the story forward. And you know, we lose people on this show. It's brutal and it's awful because we all love each other and we really do get along, so it's just brutal."
That aside, the couple appears to be going strong after announcing their engagement in May 2017.
Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz
Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz first met in 1992 on the set of Jamon Jamon when Cruz was just 18 years old. The pair didn't hit it off romantically back then, but when they reunited 15 years later for Vicky Cristina Barcelona, sparks flew; they became inseparable and married in July 2010. In September 2012, Bardem gushed to GQ, "I'm happily married. I breathe and stay in peace. I truly thank whoever's up there for giving me the opportunity to be loved."
Bardem and Cruz are still together and are proud parents to son Leonardo and daughter Luna and have since co-starred in The Counselor (though they didn't share scenes together in the film) and Loving Pablo. They're also in talks to co-star in yet another project together.
Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell
Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn first met on the set of The One And Only, Genuine, Original Family Band, but their romance reportedly did not blossom until the couple worked together again in The Swing Shift.
Hawn told Desert Island Discs (via the Daily Mail), "I was 21 and he was 16 and I thought he was adorable but he was much too young," she admitted. "And then years later we met up again and I liked him and I remembered that I liked him very much when I first met him. But we both said we would never go out with another actor so it just shows you never can tell."
The couple are still together and adorable to this day and share a son, Wyatt, born in 1986—as well as Hawn's daughter and son Kate and Oliver Hudson from her marriage to actor Bill Hudson, both of whom regard Russell as their father figure.
Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth
Miley Cyrus met Liam Hemsworth while the pair filmed The Last Song in June 2009. The onsccreen lovebirds hit it off immediately and went public in early 2010. Since then, they've split and reunited several times before getting engaged in June 2012. However, by September 2013, they called off their engagement and broke up. They were separated for a wild two years of twerking until reuniting, seemingly for good, in November 2015. They've since sparked more rumors that they are married.
Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green
Megan Fox met husband Brian Austin Green when he appeared on her TV show, Hope & Faith, in 2004. Though the pair never appeared in any scenes together (he was actually playing Kelly Ripa's love interest in his guest-starring stint), they met on-set and sparks flew immediately, even though he was a 31-year-old dad and she was an 18-year-old starlet.
"I liked him right away," Fox gushed to the New York Times magazine in 2009. "Brian accidentally touched my leg. I remember literal electricity shooting through me and out me from every direction. It was like magic."
The couple had an on-again-off-again relationship and marriage (they tied the knot in 2010 but separated in 2015), but are together today and the parents to three boys—and they co-starred together in a 2012 episode of Wedding Band.
