The Reason Jacob Sartorius And Millie Bobby Brown Broke Up
Jacob Sartorius and Millie Bobby Brown were a match made in Gen-Z heaven — at least, for a few months.
The two first sparked romance rumors in October 2017 when the tween queen posted a picture of Sartorius on her Instagram story, as reported by Us Weekly. By January 2018, the two were subtly flirting over social media. On Jan. 8, 2018, Sartorius tweeted out, "Just another day [with] you on my mind." And, of course, fans noticed that Brown liked the tweet. The actress returned the low-key love on social media on Jan. 12, 2018, when she posted a snap on Instagram holding a teddy bear with the caption, "Thanks for the bear." Sartorius liked the photo and commented, "[Of] course," as noted by Us Weekly. Ahh, young love.
Just a few weeks later, Brown threw caution to the wind and fully exposed the relationship with a black-and-white selfie of the two cuddled up with a date stamp of Dec. 31, 2017. According to Us Weekly, the couple spent New Year's Eve 2018 at the happiest place on earth — Walt Disney World — with the Stranger Things star's family. When Valentine's Day rolled around, the two had nothing but love for each other and they didn't care who knew.
In spite of all the social media love (most of which has since been deleted), it seems that things weren't going quite as well between the two as they would have their followers believe. Sartorius and Brown broke up after less than a year together. So what was going on behind the scenes of this picture-perfect relationship?
Wandering eyes may have played a part in Jacob Sartorius and Millie Bobby Brown's split
On July 31, 2018, Jacob Sartorius and Millie Bobby Brown announced they'd called it quits via their Instagram stories, as reported by Billboard. Because, apparently, that's what the kids are doing these days. In matching statements, the exes promised fans it wasn't a messy break-up. Brown wrote, "The decision with Jacob and I was completely mutual. We are both happy and remaining friends" (via People).
So either they are the two most mature teenagers the world has ever known or there was more to their break-up than meets the eye. In fact, Sartorius' alleged wandering eye could have played a part in their demise. The couple hit a rough patch about halfway through their relationship when the Vine star was accused of pressuring fans to send him nudes, according to Refinery29 – something his reps have since formally denied. There were also reports that Sartorius asked for nudes from a girl who was on the set of one of his music videos, Morgan Cryer — shady stuff. According to Girlfriend, amidst the cheating rumors, Brown did a sweep of her Instagram — removing any and all traces of the singer from her account, though the two stars later appeared to reconcile. Still, it doesn't seem like Brown's trust for Sartorius ever fully returned, seeing as the breakup came just three months later.
Unfortunately, it makes sense that their relationship is over, as we never really thought it was going to last long in the first place.
