This Is How Ariana Grande Really Spends Her Millions
As a super successful pop star, Ariana Grande makes no secret of the fact that she has a lot of money. In fact, her song "7 Rings" details just how much cash she's worth, with the songstress also revealing some of the things she likes to spend her money on. And with an estimated fortune of around $100 million, per Celebrity Net Worth, who can blame Grande for going on a shopping spree — or 100 of them?
One thing that sets Grande apart from other stars is that she loves to treat her friends to lavish gifts, and then write songs about it. And while some of her purchases are more normal than others, Grande's pop star life comes with a price tag. From her ever expanding array of pets, to the places she stays around the world, to her enviable wardrobe, let's take a look at some of the things that the "Thank U, Next" singer has spent her salary on in recent times.
Ariana Grande has a $16 million apartment in New York
Considering her popularity, it's completely unsurprising that Ariana Grande dropped $16 million on a beautiful apartment in New York. In June 2018, Grande purchased the property with her then-fiancé, Pete Davidson, and it's easy to see why. Per House Beautiful, the apartment is in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan, and boasts "five bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms, and views of the Empire State Building." People reported that Grande's new abode featured some seriously luxurious amenities such as a private IMAX theater reserved exclusively for the building's guests, and "a 75-foot indoor pool, lit from above by a massive skylight."
As for what happened to the home when Grande and Davidson split in October 2018, it's thought that the pop star held on to the investment. In an interview with GQ in August 2018, Davidson revealed that the apartment belonged to Grande: "She bought the place, Davidson says, and he stocks the fridge," they wrote. While they were cohabiting, Davidson revealed, "She's like, 'This is our house,' and I'm like, 'You're very nice for saying that. Thank you for letting me stay here.'" And as for the decor, Davidson shared that they had slowly been furnishing the place. He said, "It's like, we have six beanbags, but we have no forks — you know what I mean?" Not at all, but okay!
Ariana Grande splashes the cash on vacation
Why vacation like a normal when you're superstar rich? Just like lots of other celebrities, Ariana Grande will happily drop $10,000 a night on an Airbnb, when they don't give her a vacation for free that is. According to Glamour, in December 2018 Grande took an idyllic trip to Mountain Village in Colorado, courtesy of Airbnb. Per the publication, the rental came with "jetted tubs in the bathrooms, and indoor pool, a bowling alley, a sauna, and even a private chef." Basically, it had everything a person could ever dream of, including the perfect outdoor spot to take Instagram photos.
The "God is a Woman" singer was lucky enough to get her accommodation for free on that particular occasion. But suffice to say, Grande has likely become accustomed to staying in beautiful holiday rentals whenever she goes out of town, and she can definitely afford to do so. You don't expect to stay anywhere with a rating under five stars, do you?
Ariana Grande has a surprisingly affordable makeup collection
Fans of Ariana Grande's look might be surprised to find out that some of the cosmetics she wears are actually affordable. The singer name checks Rihanna's line, Fenty Beauty, in her song "Make Up," and apparently that isn't the only reasonable brand that the pop star is a fan of. According to Vogue, makeup artist Rokael Lizama, who created Grande's look for the "Breathin" video, used ICONIC London's Illuminator drops to "give the most intense highlight," which retails for around $40. And the reason everyone including Grande is obsessed with highlighters right now is, according to Lizama, because they give "the effect of healthy, luminous skin," which is always a win.
Meanwhile, celebrity makeup artist Daniel Chinchilla shared with Glamour that, when working with Grande, he used the super affordable Urban Decay's 24/7 Glide-On eye pencil in the color bourbon to create her famous cat-eye look. He also name-dropped Too Faced's Better Than Sex mascara, which at just $25 is a complete bargain. Of course, hiring Grande's celebrity makeup artists is likely to set ordinary people back more than a few dollars, but at least some of the products she wears are totally affordable.
Ariana Grande has a passion for fashion
After her breakup from Pete Davidson, Ariana Grande was photographed having a major shopping spree in Chanel, leaving the store with copious bags. While this is almost certainly the classiest way to handle a breakup, it's definitely not the cheapest. Grande also has a love of thigh-high boots, which she often wears with oversized hoodies or T-shirts and nothing else. As Footwear News noted, the singer has been spotted in boots by Sergio Rossi, which regularly retail for upwards of $1,500 a pair.
At the start of 2019, Grande posed for an Instagram photo wearing Fendi's reversible puffer jacket which costs a staggering $2,890. Meanwhile, the "Dangerous Woman" performer wore a $695 pair of Sophia Webster shoes in her "7 Rings" music video. As the new face of Givenchy, Grande is bound to get some freebies in the fashion department, but her love of expensive designer clothes is undeniable.
Healthy eating costs Ariana Grande a lot of money
Ariana Grande declared her love for Whole Foods in 2013. She wrote on Facebook, "I love Whole Foods Market so much there actually aren't words. just fruits and veggies and sesame tofu and friendly, peaceful people everywhere." In fact, Grande is so passionate about the store that she's regularly spotted perusing the aisles, and has even posed for photos with fans while shopping there. When Grande's world tour took her to Philadelphia in March 2019, Philly Voice compiled details of the star's pilgrimage to Whole Foods. It's no secret that Whole Foods isn't exactly a cheap place to shop — there's a reason they call it "Whole Paycheck" — so if it's her preffered grocery store, she probably has a pretty big grocery budget.
In 2015, celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak spoke to Glamour about his client Grande's diet and said, "she's vegan, and she loves daikon, lotus, adzuki beans — almost like a macrobiotic Japanese [diet]." Fans have since questioned whether Grande is a strict vegan or not, after she collaborated with Starbucks on a drink that wasn't vegan-friendly. Regardless, it looks like Grande spends a lot of her hard earned cash at Whole Foods on organic produce, and organic tends to mean more expensive.
Ariana Grande went drunk shopping at Tiffany's
According to TMZ, Ariana Grande gave ex Pete Davidson back the extremely valuable engagement ring he'd bought for her. But the pop star had an ingenious idea to replace her lost jewelry and it ended up inspiring her hit song, "7 Rings." During a shopping trip to Tiffany's, Grande ended up purchasing seven engagement rings from the iconic store. Of the splurge she revealed to Billboard, "Me and my friends went to Tiffany's together, just because we needed some retail therapy. You know how when you're waiting at Tiffany's they give you lots of champagne? They got us very tipsy, so we bought seven engagement rings, and when I got back to the studio I gave everybody a friendship ring."
In a tweet in December 2018, Grande revealed that one of her friends suggested writing a song about the shopping spree right after the singer purchased the seven rings. As she sings in "7 Rings," "Bought matching diamonds for six of my b******/ I'd rather spoil all my friends with my riches."
Ariana Grande has a celebrity personal trainer to keep her in shape
Yes, it takes a lot of work to look like Ariana Grande, which is why it's unsurprising that she enlists the help of celebrity personal trainer Harley Pasternak. The trainer, who is a regular on Revenge Body with Khloe Kardashian, told Women's Health in 2017 that simplicity is key when working with a big star. He explained, "The key to working with the kind of people like Ariana, is making the most of what we have, time-wise and equipment-wise and space-wise, without ever injuring her." He continued, "If I hurt [Ariana's] knee, she cancels a show. She cancels two weeks of performing."
Understandably, hiring an in-demand personal trainer like Pasternak doesn't come cheap. Even though exact salaries aren't known, Exercise.com noted that celebrity personal trainers can charge as much as $300 an hour or more. With a career like Grande's, staying in shape is crucial, so hiring a trainer is a justifiable expense.
Ariana Grande spoils her pet pig
Back when Ariana Grande was still with Davidson, fans became convinced that the pop star was pregnant when they spotted a crib in the background of an Instagram photo. According to E! News, fellow pop star Katy Perry asked, "What are you cooking in the crib," proving that even celebs suspected something. However, the crib was apparently just for Grande's new pet pig, Piggy Smalls. Per E! News, when fans started asking Grande why she had a crib in her apartment she replied, "That's Piggy Smalls's play pen in the background," which is just totally normal, we guess?
During an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Davidson revealed how Grande ended up acquiring her adorable pet, Piggy Smalls. The comedian said, "This girl, like, she was like, 'I want a pig. And then an hour later it was just there. You know what I mean? ... This chick got a pig in a f****** hour." Basically, when Grande wants something, she gets it, often at hyper-speed.
Ariana Grande uses a private jet ... for her dogs
Just as Ariana Grande likes to take care of her pet pig, Piggy Smalls, the singer also has nine dogs. Back in 2017, Bravo reported on Grande's pups, revealing that all nine animals were rescue dogs, meaning that the "Moonlight" singer gave them the perfect home. Per Bravo, the dogs are called Fawkes, Pignoli, Ophelia, Toulouse, Coco, Sirius, Cinnamon, Strauss, and Lafayette. According to a recent report in The Sun, Grande decided to fly out two of her dogs "to Glasgow [Scotland] on a chartered plane with her crew and staff so they were there when she arrived at her hotel ahead of a gig." According to the publication, Grande had been dealing with anxiety and thought that the presence of her pets would help as she continued performing on her world tour.
Understandably, chartering a private jet doesn't come cheap. In 2018, Air Charter Service reported that hiring a private plane can cost anywhere from $3,000 an hour, right up to $9,000 for those 60 minutes. The site also noted that longer journeys typically cost a lot more as they require much bigger planes. For instance, "The eight-and-a-half-hour journey from Chicago to London costs round $74,600 in an Embraer Legacy 500 or just under $94,000 in a Bombardier Challenger 300, working out at $8,776 and $11,750 respectively per hour in the air." Wow.
Ariana Grande's iconic hairstyle takes a lot of work
In her song "7 Rings," Ariana Grande sings, "You like my hair? Gee thanks, just bought it," and according to celebrity hair stylist Chris Appleton, the star is a big fan of hair extensions. Appleton revealed to PopSugar in 2018, "Ariana she likes a little texture in her ponytail, and extensions are always helpful because it's a great way of adding that." And when it comes to one of Grande's most recognizable looks, Appleton explained, "A snatched ponytail is such an iconic look, but there are so many things you can do with it — you can pull it up high or low or half-down. Ariana's done a great job of showing that off."
In 2014, Grande revealed the real reason she started wearing extensions was because years of dying her hair took its toll. According to E! News, in a since-deleted Instagram post, Grande explained, "I wear extensions but I wear it in a ponytail because my actually [sic] hair is so broken that it looks absolutely ratchet and absurd when I let it down." Not only is Grande splashing the cash on hair extensions, but on regular treatments by hair stylists too.
Ariana Grande has 44 tattoos and counting
According to Insider, by September 2019 Ariana Grande had an impressive array of 44 tattoos. The publication also noted that "Grande got at least 29 of those in 2018 and 2019 alone," meaning that she's been on a very real tattoo spending spree in recent times. However, not all of Grande's inks are without controversy. Cosmopolitan wrote in January 2019 that "Ari accidentally inked 'BBQ grill' on her palm in a failed attempt to get a '7 Rings' tattoo," and that the singer's attempt to fix it resulted in it saying "Japanese BBQ finger," per an astute Twitter user.
While tattoos vary greatly in cost depending on the size and design, it's likely that Grande is visiting only the best tattoo artists. Sought after tattooist Bang Bang told ELLE UK, "Tattoos at Bang Bang start at $400. They range from that minimum price to an hourly rate of $400 and up. Remember, each artist may have a different billing structure." As the "Thank U, Next" singer has over 44 tattoos and counting, it's clear that she's invested a lot of money into her body art.
