Jonas Brothers Sing 'Sucker' And More At 2019 MTV VMAs
Eleven years later, the Jonas Brothers are still burnin' up.
The sibling trio, riding the wave of success their reunion tour Happiness Begins and their newest studio album of the same name have brought, gave an extra-special remote performance at this year's MTV Video Music Awards.
Telecast from the Stone Pony in Asbury Park, New Jersey — about an hour outside the Prudential Center in Newark, where the 2019 ceremony was held — the Jonas Brothers' performance of their infectious, get-up-and-dance comeback song "Sucker" was one of the most electric moments of the evening. Things only got better when they performed their reggae-twinged track "Only Human" and their hit song "I Believe." Never ones to forget to end on a high note, the JoBros wrapped their hometown performance with a fireworks display that almost matched their own vivacity.
Singing three of their newest songs at the Stone Pony for the 2019 MTV VMAs was one thing, but winning their first-ever VMA was another. Later in the evening, the New Jersey-born brothers took home a Moon Person for Best Pop for their "Sucker" music video. Receiving the honor, presented by the actual Soprano family of New Jersey, hit the Jonas trio hard — especially since it came after a years-long hiatus during which their professional future together was anything but clear.
Said Joe, the middle Jonas brother who recently wed Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner, of winning the award, "Thank you so much. This award is dedicated to all the fans that believed in us. When we didn't believe in ourselves as a band and brothers, you guys stuck with us through the thick and thin ... To get this award from the Sopranos is a Jersey dream."
