Stars Who Deny Having Plastic Surgery
Hollywood is full of plastic surgery, but that doesn't mean celebrities will be honest about partaking in it. These stars have all dodged or denied aesthetic adjustments.
Kim Kardashian
Kim Kardashian swears she's never had work done, despite looking completely different now than she did in 2007 when she first hit the Hollywood scene. Experts speculate the reality starlet had a nose job. One doc told Radar Online, "She most likely had a non-surgical nose job, which is done using dermal fillers. It's clear that it isn't Kim's first time using dermal fillers either, because her cheeks are much fuller now, her chin is more prominent and longer and she seems to have excessive volume in her lips." Another expert believes she had full on rhinoplasty, telling the tab, "Kim looks like she may have had rhinoplasty because the bridge of her nose is thinner...Rhinoplasty usually makes the nose thinner and shorter and too many surgeries can cause it to be disproportionate to the face. I don't think that Kim's there yet, but she definitely should not have another nose job."
Kardashian insists, despite her nose being her biggest insecurity, that she's never had work done on it. "I always want to get my nose done," she told Nightline in 2010 (via the Daily Mail). "I went to the doctor, I had them take the pictures, he showed me what it would look like and it just didn't—I wouldn't look the same." Mrs. Kanye West insists her changing face is a result of occasional Botox and contouring.
As for her infamous butt? She got an X-ray on Keeping Up with the Kardashians in an effort to prove its authenticity.
Naya Rivera
Former Glee star Naya Rivera looks like she's been gradually morphing into Kim Kardashian, even rocking a much more ample bosom in 2014. She also appears to have fuller lips, more sculpted cheeks, and a thinner nose than ever before. Considering she and Kardashian share a makeup artist, maybe they also share a doctor. Of course, they'd both deny it until they're blue in the face.
Aubrey O'Day
Despite appearing to have fuller lips and a much larger chest than she did when girl group Danity Kane hit the spotlight in 2005, former member Aubrey O'Day has slammed surgery rumors. "My makeup...is constantly affecting the way people see me in regards to everybody thinking I've had plastic surgery," she told Celebuzz. "I see a lot of things about how I've had things done to my face or whatever, which none of that is the truth. [But] sometimes I'll look at pictures and think that maybe I don't look like myself there. My eyes does look different or my lips look really big, or whatever it may be, and I think, 'Wow. People really only do know me through pictures.' It could've been a lip plumper, or a bad makeup artist, too much makeup, too little makeup; whatever it may be."
Lil' Kim
Petite rapper Lil' Kim became infamous for her colorful wigs and pasties in the 90s and early 00s. Now, she looks completely different, with noticeable changes to her eyes, cheeks, nose, and lips. Even so, the emcee is adamant about remaining authentic (wigs and makeup not included, of course).
Nicki Minaj
Nicki Minaj has been plagued with rumors for years about having breast and butt implants. Her response: "I don't mind the questions, I don't mind the fascination [with my butt]...But I've said this before, it doesn't define me," she told the Huffington Post in 2011. The Super Bass songstress also famously noted, "I've never had surgery on my face." That doesn't mean she hasn't had it elsewhere!
Megan Fox
Actress Megan Fox has gotten some side eye for her lips seemingly transforming into a plumper pucker, but she insists her pout is all her own. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle star also took to her Facebook to deny using Botox, despite many suggesting her face is much more taut (and more puffy in some areas) than it used to be.
Renee Zellweger
Oscar-winning Renee Zellweger stepped out in 2014 looking nearly unrecognizable. A plastic surgeon told the Daily Mail, "Renee's defining trademark characteristic was her small, squinty eyes, which complemented her quirky personality perfectly. In my opinion, Renee underwent a blepharoplasty; which entails removing the perceived excess amount of eyelid skin and fat from the area between the eyebrow and the upper eyelash. This procedure...would unveil her eyes which were 'hiding' behind this drape of skin."
When asked if she went under the knife, Zellweger told People, "I'm living a different, happy, more fulfilling life and I'm thrilled that perhaps it shows."
Meg Ryan
Actress Meg Ryan has been out of the spotlight for years, but she turned heads in 2016 when she appeared at the Tony Awards looking distinctly different than she has in the past. Ryan garnered similar criticism in 2004 after another Hollywood hiatus. Fans and critics have analyzed every aspect of her face, but the Sleepless in Seattle star has not lost sleep over the speculation.
"I don't pay a lot of attention frankly," she told Net-A-Porter. "There's a lot of hatred in the world today, it's so easy to judge. Imagine being a hater, how stupid! My women friends are not sitting around talking about...well, sometimes there are conversations like that, but the people I value talk about kids growing up, what kind of world they are going into, what we are eating, what we are breathing."
Ladies and gentlemen, that was Meg Ryan with the mic drop.
Kim Zolciak
While Kim Zolciak admits to having a tummy tuck and breast augmentation, the Real Housewives of Atlanta star firmly denies a nose job, despite looking very different in profile than she used to. A surgeon who hasn't treated Zolciak told Radar Online, "The columella between the nostrils appears to have been lifted along with the tip. The tip also appears to have been narrowed. From the oblique view, there does appear to be some reduction of the dorsum as well."
Zolciak told Entertainment Tonight, "I have had no surgery on my face period!" She later told E! News, "I will always nip and tuck if I feel the need to do so, but I'm open about it. I don't care. You only go around one time, and I especially understand that. And life is very short, so there's no reason for me to lie."
Blake Lively
Actress Blake Lively's nose looks suspiciously slimmer than it did when she was a teen in the spotlight, but if you ask her about it, don't expect a straight answer from the Gossip Girl star. "It's the way you address any rumor," she told Buzzfeed. "People want to talk. They want to create negative things...You can't let them affect you." Fair enough, but um, is it true?
Melanie Griffith
Actress Melanie Griffith has never admitted to having any work done, even though fans say the star of Buffalo Girls looks much different than she did when she was younger. (Don't we all.) Even so, a nose doesn't get flatter with age, does it? Does a face grow tighter as the years go by? Do lips get plumper. We're just asking.
Griffith has said the cyber bullying about her appearance takes its toll. "Most people are telling me I look horrible," she told Us Weekly. "The tweets I get are really nasty."
